CIRES at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks a software engineer to support NOAA's NCEI. The role is based in Boulder, CO, with a hybrid work modality and collaboration across scientists, data managers, and engineers to automate, maintain, and enhance marine data systems.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, Math, the Physical Sciences, or another STEM field.
• Demonstrated programming proficiency through coursework or relevant experience.
• Ability to write and maintain code independently.

Responsibilities

• Optimize, monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance systems for ingesting, archiving, maintaining, visualizing, and disseminating marine datasets.
• Communicate with NCEI/CIRES scientists and data managers to identify software enhancements or new capabilities.
• Maintain relational databases to enable discovery and access to data.
• Self-manage multiple projects, stakeholders, and team members concurrently.
