Job summary

Foss Maritime Company in the United States seeks a Chief Engineer to ensure safe operation and maintenance of all vessel machinery, systems, and maintenance programs. You will lead Engineering Department personnel and align with the Vessel Management Team to follow company guidelines.

This role demands shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, with two-hour call-out readiness; valid QMED, TWIC, and USCG credentials are required to meet maritime safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid QMED endorsement.
  • DDE 4,000 HP license or greater preferred.
  • Must have a valid TWIC card.
  • Must have a valid USCG Merchant Mariner Document or Merchant Mariner Credential.
  • Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to respond to call-out work within two hours.
  • Must join Inlandboatmen's Union within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain vessel machinery and systems and ensure safe operations.
  • Lead Vessel Management Team and supervise Engineering staff.
  • Coordinate with Captain, Port Engineer and shore-side support.
  • Oversee bunkering operations and fueling procedures.
  • Respond to abnormal conditions and perform timely repairs.
