PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • To inspect cargo damaged in transit and determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages; to review documents to determine when the cargo was damaged; and to provide written reports to underwriters and other parties with his/her qualified opinion as to the cause of loss.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE

  • Oversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages as they are loaded and/or unloaded.
  • Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures.
  • Travels as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Be able to drive up to 4 hours per day.
  • Must have continual use of manual dexterity
