Job summary

Mesabi Metallics seeks a Marine & Bar ge Logistics Manager to own the Great Lakes and inland barge transportation strategy, manage carrier relationships, charters/COAs, rates, and laycans, and serve as the primary interface with carriers, terminals and agents.

You will align marine capacity with shipment requirements alongside S&OP and the Logistics Business Partner, monitor demurrage/despatch and delivery performance, and lead marine-related negotiations and contingency planning for the CCO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Maritime, or related field.
• Experience coordinating with multiple carriers and terminals.
• Willingness to travel and respond to time-sensitive issues.

Responsibilities

• Own relationships with Great Lakes and inland barge carriers, terminals, vessel operators and agents.
• Manage marine contracts, charters/COAs, rates, service terms and related negotiations.
• Plan barge and vessel capacity, nominations, laycans and shipment windows.
• Monitor demurrage/despatch, loading windows and service performance.
• Provide marine inputs to the S&OP process.
• Track marine KPIs and carrier/terminal service issues.
• Review invoices and discrepancies with Logistics & Commercial Analyst.
• Develop forward capacity plans and contingency strategies.
