Job summary

Marin Country Club is seeking an Assistant Mechanic to join our team in Marin County. This role develops skills in turf equipment maintenance, working with mowers, utility vehicles, sprayers, tractors, and small engines under an experienced Head Mechanic.

The position offers room to grow, requires basic hand tool knowledge and strong mechanical aptitude, and includes opportunities to learn preventative maintenance in a professional shop.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow written and verbal directions.
• Team oriented attitude and good communication skills.
• Ambition to grow into a lead or head equipment manager position over time.
• Basic understanding of hand tools is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Previous mechanical, small engine, automotive, or equipment experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lift 50lbs and walk/stand for extended periods of time.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail is a must.
• Availability to work early mornings.
• Availability to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with routine maintenance and repair of golf course equipment
• Assisting with reel and bed knife grinding and cutting unit set up
• Daily equipment and cutting unit checks for next day use
• Using hand tools safely and correctly
• Performing oil changes, blade maintenance, lubrication, and inspection
• Assisting with troubleshooting and repair of mechanical issues under supervision
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
• Supporting daily equipment readiness for course operation
• Ability to help with maintenance of the golf course in the morning when extra help is needed (ex. Mowing, raking, watering, etc.)

Working alongside an experienced Head Mechanic, the Assistant Mechanic will be exposed to all aspects of maintaining and repairing golf course equipment, including mowers, utility vehicles, sprayers, tractors, and small engines. Our goal is to develop your mechanical knowledge, diagnostic skills, and preventative maintenance practices in a professional shop environment.
