Job description

  • Effectively trouble shoot and repair electrical circuits varying in range from low/medium/high as classified in MSHA regulations.
  • Perform monthly inspections of equipment per MSHA regulations.
  • Communicate with, share knowledge and train other technicians.
  • Regularly troubleshoot and inspect customer's equipment by visual inspection, and by the use of testing and diagnostic equipment to determine problems or malfunction.
  • Regularly write detailed and accurate service reports stating the nature of the job and what has been done.
  • Regularly remove, repair or replace components or piece parts on engines, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electrical systems, air systems, fuel systems, transmissions and related power train systems to meet or exceed the expectations of the Contract Site Supervisor and the customer.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
  • Regularly review data from the troubleshooting and inspection process to work up detailed, accurate and cost-effective job estimates.
  • Regularly review data from the troubleshooting and inspection process to work up detailed and accurate parts orders.
  • Regularly operate mining and construction equipment.
  • Complete work with very few quality defects.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Travel, with occasional overnight stays, may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Driver’s license in good standing and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Very detail-oriented in documentation as accuracy is a key part of the daily job.
  • Current MSHA electrical certification and renewed yearly.
  • MSHA “green card” qualifications as stated in 30 CFR part 77.103 of MSHA mandatory safety standards.
  • Work with a positive attitude and spirit of cooperation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and influence others to do the same.
  • Able to work alone on tasks assigned.
  • Proficient in print reading and interpretation.
  • Able to work with prints and comprehend information with little assistance.
  • Able to safely use rigging and lifting equipment.
  • Able to maintain rotating DC motors and generators.
  • Demonstrated ability to layout and terminate breaker panels per local code requirements.
  • Understand and apply transformer theory for terminating equipment.
  • 4-5 years’ experience in the trade or minimum experience outlined in the Job Summary level.
  • Additional technical schooling or on-the-job maintenance planning training.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Exposure to dirt, grease, dust, noise and other elements within the work environment.
  • Able to climb equipment steps and ladders.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Prolonged standing.
