  • Weigh containers and ensure product meets specifications.
  • Spray and head barrels during pack-out.
  • Tag/label barrels, containers and pallets in production or rework.
  • Palletize barrels of fruit, pre-syrup and other receptacles.
  • Clean equipment, filters and pack room.
  • Mix and keep records for drum sprays, syrups, flavorings, colors and totes.
  • Set up and tear down equipment for tank runs.
  • Maintain a clean, hazard-free work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Report food safety issues to Management.

Pacific Coast Producers , growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking Maraschino Helper to join our team at our production facility in Salem, OR. PCP is investing in its people and advancing a culture of service, where each employee can do their best to make affordable, high-quality food for customers across North America. O ur Salem facility produces maraschino cherries and other cherry products in various styles, colors, and flavors and employs between 70-100 employees.

Pay Rate: $18.46 per hour. This is an on-site role and runs Mon - Fri from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. (hours may vary) This position provides advancement opportunities commensurate with the employee's demonstrated abilities and achievements.

Responsible for filling barrels, totes, pails and boxes with fruit, syrup, pre-syruping, mixing colorings, flavoring and drum sprays, mixing solution totes, setting up and tearing down equipment for tank runs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Fill various receptacles with fruit, syrup, coloring and flavoring.
  • Wash, sanitize and stage barrels and other receptacles for filling.
  • Open and clean totes being used for the filling of tanks.
  • Weigh containers of product and ensure the finished product meets specification.
  • Spray and head barrels during pack-out.
  • Correctly tag/label barrels, containers and pallets in the production or rework process.
  • Palletize barrels of fruit, pre-syrup, extra syrup, and other receptacles according to pallet stacking diagrams.
  • Clean equipment, filters and pack room.
  • Mix and keep accurate records for drum sprays, syrups, flavorings, colors, and solution totes.
  • Set up and tear down equipment needs for tank running.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and hazard-free work area.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Oregon Cherry Growers, Inc., is a food processing facility and it is the responsibility of every employee to perform all job duties and other activities in a manner that upholds the safety and quality of the facilities and products produced. In addition, it is the responsibility of each employee to report all food safety issues or concerns to the Production Manager, Plant Manager or QA Management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Physically capable of performing all of the jobs on the Pack Line and other job requirements.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to fill out documents and forms as needed
  • Ability to operate devices like label makers, printers, date coders, computers, and metal detectors.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow safety rules and good manufacturing practices.
  • Must have a positive attitude and work well with others.
  • Possess and maintains a good attendance record. Demonstrates excellent safety record and follows all good manufacturing practices.
  • Must be in good disciplinary standing and have a good attendance record.

Physical Requirements:Frequent physical activity includes walking, bending, standing, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., touching, reaching, gripping, finger dexterity, and hearing. Moderate physical activity may include stooping, color identification, close vision, and depth perception. Under strenuous conditions, employees are still expected to perform their job requirements in a safe manner.

Environmental Factors:Working conditions include exposure to plant temperature extremes, dampness, humidity, fumes, and high noise levels. Work requires wearing proper protective equipment. Incumbent may work with rotating machinery and in a crowded area.
