Job Description:
Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a MAP Engineer II - A220 to join our Final Assembly Line based in Mobile, AL.
The MAP Engineering Support (Structures) position is responsible for the development and approval of solutions related to aircraft non-conformities which require engineering expertise and delegation to be resolved during aircraft final assembly, flight line and delivery activities. The jobholder is accountable for all engineering activities of primary and secondary aircraft structure (Airframe) linked to non-conformities and concessions raised during the FAL US manufacturing process. The provided solutions must be in line with the requirements of valid SLA content (timeline, quality and completeness of the solution), Airbus Design Principles and continuous Airworthiness requirements.
Your challenges:
- Establishing improvements of onsite processes, perform MRB audits.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience to obtain delegation from the Design Office to perform engineering activities under MRB.
- Executes intermediate to complex engineering assignments requiring familiarity with several fields of engineering.
- Conducts research into various fields of engineering to investigate, re-evaluates and applies obtained results to solve practical problems.
- Identifies and reports on defects and deficiencies in work done by others. Prepares progress reports.
- Recommends changes in plans and specifications to suit special conditions.
- Develops innovative engineering techniques.
- Generates documentation for approval by others.
- Reviews sections of documents prepared by others and recommends approval.
- May be responsible for small work packages.
Your boarding pass:
- Bachelor degree with 4 years of related work experience or Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline, with 3 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- 3 to 8 years or demonstrated knowledge and competency for the level of experience Required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in implementing and using indication, alert and recording systems.
- Advanced knowledge of engine, fuel, pneumatic, APU, hydraulic, cabin systems, advanced metallic/composite aerospace structure.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of configuration management rules.
- Demonstrated success in identifying and solving problems.
- Ability to function on the basis of self-motivation and self-direction.
- Demonstrated willingness to work across traditional boundaries.
- Plans activities on a short and mid-term basis.
Physical Requirements:
- Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to observe manufacturing operations including equipment as well as individual tasks.
- Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings and on the production floor and flight line. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
- Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
- Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment as well as production-related tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and power drills.
- Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 50lbs/22kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
- Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs/22kg.
- Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items on production and in office areas.
- Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer, in meetings and observing production processes.
- Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
- Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time, often on concrete floors observing production operations or delivering information.
- Travel: Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time, at short notice.
- Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flightline and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
