Job summary

International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF) seeks a seasoned Engineering Leader to head the Manufacturing Technology function at our Clackamas, Oregon site. You will oversee project portfolios, drive capital initiatives, and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver robust, compliant solutions for high-scale production.

The role requires a deep background in chemical/biochemical processing, strong collaboration across locations, and the ability to operate in a cGMP environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience leading engineering teams in industrial/biochemical processing environments.
• Proven ability to drive multi-year projects and manage budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Manufacturing Technology function at a large-scale industrial biotechnology site, overseeing project portfolios and team performance.
• Mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team through goal setting, performance reviews, coaching, and recognition.
• Translate Health and Biosciences Manufacturing Technology and Operations goals into actionable departmental initiatives.
• Prioritize and manage multiple projects with effective stakeholder communication.
• Provide robust process, equipment, and automation design solutions, including troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement to increase capacity, product quality, safety, and reduce costs.
• Collaborate with site capital and automation teams to align resources and master plan.
• Partner with Process R&D to implement new products and process changes.
• Contribute to global strategies within Health and Biosciences Manufacturing Technology leadership.

• Lead the Manufacturing Technology function at a large-scale industrial biotechnology site, managing both project portfolios and team performance.
• Develop and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team through goal setting, performance reviews, coaching, and recognition.
• Translate Health and Biosciences Manufacturing Technology and Operations goals into actionable departmental initiatives.
• Prioritize and manage multiple projects, ensuring effective communication with internal stakeholders, business leaders, and the global Manufacturing Technology organization.
• Support operations by providing robust process, equipment, and automation design solutions, including proactive troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase capacity, enhance product quality, support safety enhancements, and reduce operational costs.
• Collaborate with site capital and automation teams to align resources and develop the site's long-term master plan.
• Partner with business leaders and the Process Research and Development team to implement new products and process changes.
• Contribute to global strategies and initiatives as a member of the Health and Biosciences Manufacturing Technology leadership community.

• Ability to be at the physical location of the job for the designated work schedule

• Will be asked to train someone and/or participate in a task force to improve company procedures or operations.

• Must be able to successfully pass all job-related tests and certifications required for working in a cGMP, quality environment including but not limited to: inspections and GMP requirements to

WHAT MAKES YOU THE RIGHT FIT

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of eight years of engineering experience, preferably in industrial or biochemical processing.
• Proven experience in team leadership or project management within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of industrial biotechnology processes, including fermentation, downstream processing, and both liquid and solid formulation.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple locations, functions, and business divisions.
• Strong decision-making, prioritization, and strategic thinking skills.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, with confidence in engaging senior leadership.
• Solid financial and business acumen, including experience in project justification and budgeting.
• Ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals.

• Familiar with Microsoft applications such as MS Office
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to take initiative and build strong productive relationships
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities
• A legal right to work in the United States
• Must pass a drug screen and a background check in accordance with HWP standards.
