Shift: 12hr (6:00AM-6:30pm) 2-2-3 (2 on, 2 off, every other weekend) schedule

Position Summary

This position will require working in various Controlled/Non-Classified areas. The Packaging Technician performs a variety of manufacturing tasks (operates equipment, performs in-process monitoring, line clearances, cosmetic inspection, cleaning, and completes batch record entries) and supports improvement activities (5S, participate in problem-solving and Kaizen events, manual data collection) to achieve a prescribed level of purity, quality, and consistency in product and work output in accordance with cGMPs.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform the duties of operating assigned machinery including servicing machines with materials, monitoring equipment status, reintroducing materials, manually palletizing finished materials, and ensuring a smooth flow of product.
  2. Be able to start-up machinery including equipment setup, perform recipe selection, data entry on manufacturing computerized systems (SCADA and HMI), make minor adjustments, and perform critical sensor challenges.
  3. Perform manual packaging tasks as required including hand packaging and rework of in-process and finished material.
  4. Operate light material handling equipment (motorized and manual pallet jacks, non-motorized lifts) as needed to safely move, store, or deliver materials.
  5. Perform visual quality inspections and sampling of in-process materials. Escalate concerns promptly to Lead and Process Facilitator.
  6. Perform minor troubleshooting including clearing jams and identifying equipment defects. Collaborate with technical resources to resolve issues.
  7. Perform inventory control and reconciliation activities, possibly using SAP and WES.
  8. Perform cleaning, housekeeping, and line clearance activities to maintain a cGMP environment, including assembling, disassembling, and sanitizing equipment.
  9. Complete batch records and GMP documentation entries, perform mathematical computations as needed.
  10. Understand and follow safety procedures, PPE use, ergonomics, LOTO, human safety, chemical handling, and spill controls. Report discrepancies.
  11. Work responsibly according to SOPs, cGMPs, safety, and quality procedures.
  12. Support lean activities and process improvements like 5S, problem-solving, and manual data tracking for performance analysis.
  13. Act as a certified OJT trainer, conduct evaluations, and train team members on equipment and process tasks.
  14. Review process documents for accuracy, suggest improvements, and maintain quality and cGMP compliance.
  15. Execute protocols for equipment qualification and process validation.
  16. Support other manufacturing areas as needed and acquire/maintain certifications.
  17. Learn new skills continuously and work effectively in a team environment.
  18. Adapt to changing environments; some overtime may be required.
  19. Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in a pharmaceutical or cGMP regulated environment
  • Ability to read, write, communicate, and follow instructions in English
  • Good attention to detail, accurate record-keeping, and mathematical skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma, vocational training, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications and SAP
  • Prior production experience
  • Experience in LEAN manufacturing
  • Knowledge of cGMPs and FDA policies
