Job summary

Framatome in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a production associate to support basic assembly, cleaning, and fabrication of nuclear components. You will operate calibration and measurement tools, enter production data, and maintain a safe, clean work area.

  • May utilize forklifts, scales, calipers, x-ray machine, cutters, soldering gun, crimp tools, grinders and various small hand tools.
  • Accurately enter/scan completed production data into system.
  • Set up and perform routine dimensional and visual inspections.
  • Move material and products while maintaining safety and cleanliness.

This position is with Incore Manufacturing team, a division of the Instrumentation and Controls business unit, which is responsible for precision fabrication of a variety of nuclear instruments and temperature probes.

Your work will include basic assembly, cleaning, and fabrication operations, following step-by-step work instructions, drawings, and specifications, to fabricate nuclear power plant components. Your work will also include set up, calibration, and use of basic equipment, scales, calipers, grinders, and various small hand tools. Your work may include operating x-ray equipment, soldering, and dimensional and visual inspection of components and assemblies. You may perform basic material and production handling, including use of forklifts. You may perform basic operation of ovens, to load and unload non-uranium-bearing material, peform operative checks prior to operation and during cycle. You will be part of team that values a safe and healthy workplace and complies with all applicable safety and health rules.

What You’ll Do Day-To-Day
  • Performs basic equipment and tooling set up including calibration.
  • Basic parts preparation per SWIs/SOPs.
  • Performs basic assembly, cleaning, and fabrication operations.
  • May utilize forklifts, scales, calipers, x-ray machine, cutters, soldering gun, crimp tools, grinders and various small hand tools, etc. in the daily operation of job.
  • Accurately enter/scan completed production data into system.
  • Set up and perform the most common or routine dimensional and visual inspections in an assigned area.
  • Use a limited amount of inspection tools and gages as needed to perform duties and rejects/approves as needed.
  • Moves material and product in the work area by proper handling method.
  • Keeps work area and equipment clean and orderly.
  • May assist with minor equipment maintenance, repair and inspection, following detailed procedures, and report defects to supervision.
  • May perform basic operation of oven – load and unload non-uranium bearing material, perform preoperative checks prior to operation and during cycle.
  • During lull periods of production, may be required to travel to nuclear sites and/or other product centers.
  • Properly handles hazardous materials.
  • Performs job duties in a safe manner.
  • Promotes a safe and healthy workplace by following safety rules.
  • Utilizes the principles of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Work duties may require alternate shift assignments.

  • Salary: $19.70 - $25.70 per hour, and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
