Job summary

Framatome in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Welder II to join our onsite team. You will interpret blueprints, assemble and weld components, and ensure traceability and quality throughout fabrication.

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience.
  • Completion of a welding apprenticeship or a two-year welding technical degree.
  • Experience with MIG, TIG, Stick and Flux-core Welding and Aluminum.
  • Must be forklift certified.
  • Knowledge of a variety of field concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Knolwedge with welding and manual brazing operations.
  • Ability to qualify in mig, stick and tig welding as well as G6 restricted welding processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret weld blueprints, procedures, design drawing requirements, etc.
  • Good communication skills to comprehend, follow direction and convey detailed technical data.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints and work from process sheets, procedures, standards, travelers, CETL, and written and verbal instructions.
  • Review weld drawings and procedures.
  • Receive and maintain identity of released components.
  • Lead shop fabrication tasks and specialty welding processes, as directed.
  • Perform welding on NSS components and maintenance/repair related activities at nuclear sites.
  • Inspect welds as weld supervisor apprentice.
  • May be directed by management to support other business units and may include travel to nuclear sites.
  • Play an active role in creating a safe and healthy workplace and comply with all applicable safety and health rules.

What You'll Do Day-To-Day
  • Interpret blueprints and work from process sheets, procedures, standards, travelers, CETL, and written and verbal instructions.
  • Review weld drawings and procedures.
  • Receive and maintain identity of released components.
  • Receive, store, and maintain identity/traceability of weld and weld wire.
  • Devise and set up tooling and fixtures as needed to result in an acceptable product by hand or with material handling equipment.
  • Comply with all plant work rules, regulations and specific instructions.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area and assist in performing maintenance of work area.
  • Ensure proper functioning of equipment and maintain all tooling and equipment in accordance with standard shop practices.
  • Lead shop fabrication tasks and specialty welding processes, as directed.
  • Perform welding on NSS components and maintenance/repair related activities at nuclear sites.
  • Handle hazardous materials properly.
  • Perform duties as Weld Supervisor apprentice responsible for issuing and maintaining control of Safety / Code related weld wire per Framatome procedure.
  • Inspect welds as weld supervisor apprentice.
  • Perform rigging and material handling.
  • May be directed by management to support other business units and may include travel to nuclear sites.
  • Play an active role in creating a safe and healthy workplace and comply with all applicable safety and health rules.

Total Rewards Package
  • Salary: $30.90 - $40.50 per hour, an d may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
