Job description

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Technician maintains all machines in good working order, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical or electrical failures. Assists Technicians in other departments within the section. Works closely with the Central Engineering Group on projects to upgrade equipment.

Job Details:

  1. Follow requirements of applicable and international regulations.
  2. Troubleshoot high-speed manufacturing equipment and perform electrical and mechanical repairs as required.
  3. Collaborate with Engineering Group on projects that upgrade production equipment.
  4. Verify inspection units are functioning properly, heats and pressures are within tolerance, and machine operations are smooth and consistent.
  5. Oversee the safety of personnel and machinery in the department.
  6. Perform scheduled repairs, preventative maintenance, and improve machines and auxiliary equipment, including emergency repairs.
  7. Set up production equipment and conduct quality checks prior to line start-up.
  8. Participate in project performance team meetings to provide ideas and processes for performance improvement.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Position requires gowning procedures for controlled environments. Typically works around high-speed machinery requiring close attention to safety to prevent entanglement. Use of eye and hearing protection is required in high noise areas. Conditions can be physically demanding during high machine breakdown periods.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Mechanical aptitude is critical, gained from experience with line operation and maintenance. Requires hand-eye coordination for precise adjustments. Attention to detail is essential. Physical activities include standing, reaching, pulling, and stooping.

Background Experience:

Typically requires an AA degree in a relevant field with at least 2 years of experience to develop problem-solving skills and knowledge of complex electronic controls, motor drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, and calibration equipment. Ability to read blueprints and schematics. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
