ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

  • Monday-Friday (Day) 7:00am - 7:30pm and Sat & Sun 7:00am - 7:30pm

ROLE SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for safety, quality, and productivity of all equipment on a high-speed manufacturing line including unscrambler, filler, case former, case sealer, case packer. You will be responsible for performing receipt of all raw materials necessary to support manufacturing production lines. Perform and assist with machine startup/shutdown operations of all equipment in production areas including filler, Douglas case wrap, case sealer, Hartness case packer, and palletizer/stretch wrapper. Assist with general operations in various areas as needed throughout the daily production schedules.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with operational setup/shutdown and maintenance of packing line equipment.
  • Operate, clear jams, and restart equipment such as sealer, case former, case wrapper, palletizer, and Hartness.
  • Hand stack cases of finished goods onto pallets as required.
  • Identify alarms on various equipment to appropriately and safely clear jams to restart the packaging line.
  • Apply and understand proper lock out/tag out procedures for each piece of equipment assigned to operate.
  • Load bottles directly on the conveyor as well as train and lead temporary workforce to load bottles.
  • Load cat cartons onto magazine.
  • Load bundles of corrugate into case former and case wrapper, executing safe lifting techniques.
  • Inspect finished product for defects at various points on the packing line.
  • Fill out quality forms used in production.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to keep work area clean and neat.
  • Cross-train for other production positions to become qualified to fill in for short and long-term absences.
  • Load corrugate and bottles into the baler and train temporary workforce to safely operate baler.
  • Perform operational setup, blow back, and removal of fragrance totes.
  • Operate Advance CS7000 floor scrubber.
  • Create hand add pallets for LLD batching, executing safe lifting techniques.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Understand and participate in all lean manufacturing programs.
  • Apply and understand the Autonomous Maintenance Programs (CIL, Center-lining, and defect handling).
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in an industrial environment using and operating commonly used industrial equipment.
  • Prior experience working in an industrial environment requiring application of basic industrial skills such as spatial and temporal awareness, mechanical aptitude, and process understanding.
  • Certification or training in relevant manufacturing processes and equipment operation.
  • Previous experience participating in Kaizen events and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate clearly and concisely in multiple media such as verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to operate machinery with great attention to detail.

REQUIRED TRAINING:
  • POKA: Ability to implement mistake-proofing techniques to prevent errors.
  • Clicks: Proficiency in using digital tools and software for monitoring and managing production.
  • 6S: Understanding and application of the 6S methodology (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety).
  • 9, 1, 5 Forms: Competence in completing and understanding manufacturing forms.
  • Understand Boards: Ability to read and interpret visual management boards.
  • Participate in Kaizen Events: Active involvement in continuous improvement activities.
  • Autonomous Maintenance: Basic maintenance tasks independently performed to ensure equipment is in optimal condition.
Operation Skills:
  • Pace / Depal: Operate pace and depalletizing equipment efficiently.
  • Case Erectors: Operate case erector machines accurately.
  • Labelers: Operate labeling machines properly.
  • Power Industrial Lift: Safely operate power lifts within the facility.
Setup Skills:
  • Pace / Depal: Set up pace and depalletizing equipment for production runs.
  • Case Erectors: Configure case erector machines for various packaging needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Good physical condition capable of lifting 50 lbs. safely. Routine work involves climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, walking, talking, handling, feeling, and reaching. Specific activities include:

  • Lift/Carry: 10-50 lbs. as specified, with activity frequency.
  • Push/Pull, Reach, and other physical activities as detailed.

Other physical activities include repetitive motion of arms and shoulders.

Work Conditions:

Exposure to moving machinery, chemical fumes, heat, cold, slippery surfaces, dust, and forklift batteries. Use of equipment such as step stools, ladders, forklifts, power tools, and personal protective equipment is required.

Physical tasks include climbing, bending, lifting, and operating machinery, with specific weight limits and activity frequencies specified.
