Job summary

Veeco Instruments Inc. is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Technician to build, integrate, calibrate, and test complex semiconductor systems on the manufacturing floor, including precision mechanical assemblies and electrical subsystems.

You will partner with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to resolve issues, maintain build schedules, and ensure products meet performance requirements, while following detailed work instructions and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience in assembly, integration, or troubleshooting of complex electromechanical systems; semiconductor experience preferred.
  • Ability to work assigned shifts and overtime, including weekends or holidays during peak demand periods.

Responsibilities

  • Build and integrate complex systems and subassemblies following detailed mechanical and electrical work instructions, ensuring all specifications are met.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics to execute precise assembly steps.
  • Use precision measurement tools including torque wrenches, digital multimeters (DMM), gauges, levels, and electronic data capture tools as required.
  • Prepare systems for shipment, including disassembly, protective packaging, and required documentation.
  • Accurately document builds and handoffs, maintaining traceable records in designated systems.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting of system or subsystem issues, escalating and partnering with engineering teams to resolve root causes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, assembly processes, and workplace organization (6S), and communicate recommendations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and other activities to meet production schedules.

OVERVIEW

This role is based at a manufacturing facility that produces advanced semiconductor equipment used in areas such as high-performance computing, memory technologies, and next-generation device packaging. These systems support faster, more efficient semiconductor devices used across applications including AI, mobile, and data infrastructure.

In this role, you will support the build, integration, calibration, and testing of complex systems on the manufacturing floor. Work will include precision mechanical assemblies, optical components, and electrical subsystems, following detailed work instructions and quality standards. You will partner cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to resolve issues, maintain build schedules, and ensure systems meet performance and reliability requirements.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced environment where attention to detail, teamwork, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are critical. Your contributions directly impact production throughput, system quality, and the ability to meet customer delivery commitments.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build and integrate complex systems and subassemblies following detailed mechanical and electrical work instructions, ensuring all specifications are met.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics to execute precise assembly steps.
  • Use precision measurement tools including torque wrenches, digital multimeters (DMM), gauges, levels, and electronic data capture tools as required.
  • Prepare systems for shipment, including controlled disassembly, protective packaging, and completion of required documentation.
  • Accurately document builds and handoffs, maintaining traceable records in designated systems.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting of system or subsystem issues, escalating and partnering with engineering teams to resolve root causes.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience in an assembly, integration, or troubleshooting of complex electromechanical systems (semiconductor experience preferred but not required). Military technical experience is valued.
  • Ability to work assigned shifts and overtime, including weekends or holidays during peak demand periods.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, work at benches or assembly stations for extended periods, and safely operate standard and precision tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical assembly skills: experience with mechanical fasteners, electrical interconnects, torque requirements, and basic pneumatic systems.
  • Control systems understanding: working knowledge of hardware, software, and system-level integration concepts.
  • Measurement and metrology: ability to use precision instruments and follow documented measurement processes.
  • Documentation: ability to create accurate reports and maintain electronic records.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: proven ability to work with technicians, engineers, and operations teams to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Problem-solving: ability to identify recurring issues and contribute to long-term solutions.
  • Software skills: proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ERP system experience is a plus.
Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $61,928.00 - $81,485.00 plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
