NextGen Government Services Practice Lead at Insight Global

Location: Norfolk, VA

Duration: 9-month contract + extensions or potential for conversion – 10 years of work through this company

Compensation: $37.98/hour (no flexibility above this)

Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience working directly with cable/fiber optics
• IPC Certification is a significant plus
• Experience with sub-surface communication optical cable, potting, fiber optics, electro-mechanical assemblies
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills
• Ability to develop creative yet practical solutions to technical challenges
• Experience interpreting schematic diagrams & engineering drawings
• Must be able to obtain a US Secret Clearance
• Willing to travel approximately 25% of the time

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Experience in electro-optic cable terminations and jointing, sub-surface communication cable management, and electronics assembly
• Tasks may include fiber optic splicing, potting mechanical and electronic components, Hi-Pot testing, hydrostatic-pressure testing, soldering electrical and electronic assemblies
• Soldering electronic components onto boards and other electrical assemblies
• Performing coarse and fine adjustments using hand tools, precision measuring devices, and specialized equipment like vacuum systems, digital indicators, microscopes, height gages, Vernier gages, micrometers, and electronic testing fixtures
