Job summary

Veeco Instruments Inc. in Somerset, NJ is hiring a Manufacturing Technician to troubleshoot and test tools and sub-systems during Assembly and Test, collaborating with Engineering to resolve complex issues.

You will manage all test data for Acceptance testing, compile statistical reports, analyze discrepancies, and contribute improvements to testing methods for both existing and new products. Requires a high school diploma and 2–4 years of hands-on testing experience; an Associate’s degree in a

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 2–4 years in testing complex systems.
  • Associate's degree in technical engineering preferred.
  • Experience with hardware, software, and control systems (Analog / D-Net preferred).
  • Experience with high vacuum semiconductor hardware and manufacturing.
  • Experience with high-voltage and high-power systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Willingness to work overtime and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot testing activity discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and R&D to resolve diverse issues found during test.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering and Assembly Test Technicians to resolve issues.
  • Manage all manufacturing test data associated with Acceptance testing (ETL & ATL).
  • Compile statistical reports for each system during Final Test.
  • Analyze discrepancy data to provide corrective action and target zero customer source inspection findings.
  • Identify and provide improvements to test methods for existing products and collaborate with Engineering on new products/components.

Overview

The Manufacturing Technician troubleshoots and tests tools and sub-systems during the Assembly and Test processes. As a technician, you will work closely with Engineering to resolve complex issues.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot testing activity discrepancies
  • Work with Engineering and R&D groups as required to resolve diverse and complex issues found during test
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Assembly Test Technicians to resolve and close issues
  • Manage all manufacturing test data associated with Acceptance testing (ETL & ATL)
  • Compile statistical reports for each system during Final Test
  • Analyze discrepancy data for each system to provide corrective action and target zero customer source inspection findings
  • Identify and provide improvements to test methods for existing products and collaborate with Engineering to develop methodologies for new products/components
Qualifications

Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and 2-4 years of hands-on experience in testing and troubleshooting complex systems. An Associate's degree in technical engineering or a technical field service background is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of hardware, software, and control systems - Analog / D-Net is preferred
  • Experience with high vacuum semiconductor hardware/practices and manufacturing is preferred
  • Experience and training on high-voltage and high-power systems
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Preferred: SAP skills that range from simple inquiries to complex reports and transactions
  • Ability to perform statistical data analysis
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Skills in identifying and resolving recurring issues.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Interpersonal skills to interface with assembly technicians, engineering, management, customers, sales, and marketing
  • Ability to work overtime
Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $45,460-$57,582, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
