Job summary

PDS Tech Commercial is hiring a Manufacturing Technician I to support tooling and manufacturing operations for precision aerospace programs. You will ensure tooling, fixtures, and assemblies meet exact dimensional requirements, directly influencing product quality and production efficiency.

In this role you will lay out, fabricate, and assemble jigs and fixtures, read tool drawings, operate optical inspection equipment, and contribute to process improvements with metrology and SPC practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience or education related to tool building and/or laser tracking in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing reference systems and creating working build models.
  • Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to safely ascend and descend ladders as required.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in warehouse and shop-floor environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, as well as Adobe PDF tools.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate optical inspection instruments to verify alignment, fit, and assembly adjustments.
  • Develop and design holding devices, jigs, fixture details, and tooling solutions.
  • Create operational sequences and shop drawings for fabrication and assembly activities.
  • Monitor and verify quality standards using statistical process control methods and other quality procedures.
  • Support tooling and manufacturing teams with dimensional analysis and measurement verification.

Position Overview

Job Title: Manufacturing Technician I

Location: Palmdale, CA 93550-7401

Job Type: Full-Time Consultant (12-Month Contract)

Schedule: Monday - Thursday | 4x10 Work Schedule

Pay Rate: $29.50 per hour

As a Manufacturing Technician, you will support tooling and manufacturing operations by ensuring critical tooling, fixtures, and assemblies meet exact dimensional requirements. Your expertise will directly influence product quality, production efficiency, and the success of complex aerospace programs.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Lay out, fabricate, and assemble standard and non-standard jigs, fixtures, tool masters, master tooling gauges, and related tooling.

  • This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of computer-aided metrology systems, including:
  • Laser Trackers
  • Articulated Arms
  • Scanners
  • 6DoF (Six Degree of Freedom) systems
  • Experience with reverse engineering and model development from collected measurement data.
  • Knowledge of integrated airframe and aerostructure systems.
  • Experience with metrology and manufacturing software, including:
  • Verisurf X
  • SA and Maya Matrix
  • Build!IT
  • PolyWorks
