Job summary

Tosoh Quartz Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join our Portland plant. You will play a hands-on role in grinding, cutting, and finishing quartz components using automated equipment and manual tools.

Training runs 4:00 am–12:30 pm, Mon–Fri, with a transition to 1:00 pm–9:30 pm, Mon–Fri, after training, plus a 10% shift differential. You will work with sandpaper, grinding wheels, and automated robots, while following drawings, orders and procedures to ensure product quality and

Qualifications

• Must follow written instructions and safety protocols.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a loud, wet environment.
• Able to see small defects in glass and read blueprints.
• Comfort working with chemicals up to 20% of shift.
• Willing to wear company-provided PPE (goggles, gloves, aprons, respirator).

Responsibilities

• Operate and troubleshoot automated grinding processes.
• Cut glass to required lengths and finish surfaces with sandpaper and polishing tools.
• Produce and inspect in-process parts to meet specs.
• Maintain equipment and housekeeping in a safe work area.
• Follow process documents, work orders, drawings and safety rules.

Your training will take place during the 4:00 am -12:30 pm shift, M – F. Training may last up to 12 weeks. Once you have completed training, you will move to your regular work schedule of 1:00 pm - 9:30 pm, M - F.Training Schedule: 4:00 am - 12:30 pm, Monday - FridayWork Schedule (after training period): 1:00 pm - 9:30 pm, Monday - Friday (+10% differential)What you’ll do at Tosoh Quartz.80% of the time you will be using your thumbs to firmly hold sandpaper against a part on a grinding wheel with all of your upper body strength.Operate and troubleshoot automated robots that aid in grinding processes.Cut glass to the required lengths, cut in bevels, slots or other features, etch off layers to perfect glass and rinse item in acid bath between all steps.Produce and inspect in process products for quality and adherence to customer specifications.Work in accordance with process procedures, work order instructions, drawings, and other production documents.Use sandpaper and other tools to cosmetically grind, buff and polish the parts.Maintain equipment. Detect and correct minor machine malfunctions and perform daily and monthly machine maintenance as directed.Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area.Wear and use all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) properly and in accordance with manufacturer and OSHA regulations.Important note: This position works with chemicals (including acid) for up to 20% of the shift. All employees must strictly follow all safety protocols and wear required safety gear at when working with chemicals.Who you are.Minimum requirements:High school diploma or equivalent.Ability to accurately follow instructions.Able to lift and extend with arms outstretched, up to 50 lbs. tension will be placed on thumbs, hands and wrists.Able to work in loud, wet environment.Ability to see small defects in glassAptitude for learning; blueprints, machine mathematics and precision measurement equipment.Able to wear all required, Company-provided safety gear during your shift.
