Job description

Manufacturing Systems Specialist
Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Systems Specialist to support the configuration, implementation, improvement, and ongoing operation of enterprise manufacturing software used in aerospace production. The ideal candidate combines manufacturing engineering or quality expertise with hands-on experience supporting Solumina or comparable Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), or Operations Process Management (OPM) platforms. This role serves as a liaison between manufacturing stakeholders and technical teams to translate business needs into reliable, compliant system solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and validate business, system, interface, and integration requirements; develop requirements documents, conceptual designs, and business process maps.
  • Lead implementation of manufacturing software upgrades, enhancements, new functionality, and associated deployment activities.
  • Develop acceptance test plans and coordinate integration, user acceptance, and validation testing.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for ERP, MES/OPM platforms and connected manufacturing applications; partner with technical teams on functional solutions.
  • Lead manufacturing data management, analysis, and governance to support data integrity and effective business operations.
  • Provide manufacturing systems technical support, troubleshoot user issues, and coordinate escalations with appropriate technology teams.
  • Create and maintain system procedures, user guides, training materials, and workshops; deliver user training as needed.
  • Lead projects and process improvements; establish priorities, estimates, and timelines, and communicate recommendations and findings.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable system security, regulatory, quality, and internal process requirements; incorporate lean principles into process design.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Quality Management, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering or quality-related organization (8 years with a masters degree).
  • At least 5 years of experience with Solumina or a comparable ERP, MES, or OPM platform.
  • Project management experience, including ownership or leadership of systems initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently with manufacturing users, database specialists, software teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, requirements documentation, analytical, training, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes, data requirements, lean principles, and process improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
Relevant Experience / Preferred Skills
  • Direct Solumina functional administration, configuration, systems integration, or implementation experience (rather than end-user experience alone).
  • Experience managing ERP/MES/OPM data governance and manufacturing system interfaces.
  • Exposure to SAP and Corridor systems; depth of experience will be assessed during screening.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing software in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated production environments.
  • Experience with software acceptance testing, business process mapping, user documentation, and training.
