The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Supervisor will lead on shift activities for crew in assigned department, expected to drive results in EHS, Quality, and Productivity which align with plant goals.

As a Manufacturing Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Ensuring a safe working environment through formal inspections/audits, correcting unsafe behaviors, safety / crew meetings, and utilizing proper work methods, procedures and equipment
  • Incident investigation, problem solving and root cause analysis (EHS and quality)
  • Ensuring employees receive training as specified
  • Providing effective communication to employees through daily interaction, electronic mail, etc.
  • Providing direct supervision and development to production and/or hourly employees
  • Planning and coordinating priorities, allocating work assignments, and regulating production process to meet specific daily production requirements
  • Monitoring production rates, yields, and quality of products daily and providing feedback
  • Organizing and reviewing changeovers to minimize downtime and address production issues
  • Leading/participating in Kaizen continuous improvement sessions, making process suggestions to improve quality and reduce costs
  • Implementing Lean Management systems and cost reduction programs
  • Being part of Knoxville Leadership Group with responsibility for midnight and/or afternoon shift
  • Serving as the primary plant management representative during off shifts
Your Skills and Expertise

To succeed in this role, 3M requires (at a minimum):

  • High School Diploma or higher (verified prior to start)
  • Three (3) years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed include:

  • Associate’s Degree or higher (verified prior to start)
  • Previous supervisory/management experience, including troubleshooting in manufacturing
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Experience with Green Belt projects or certification
  • Effective communication and people skills
  • Leadership, mechanical, computer, administrative, and planning skills
  • Desire and experience in leading change
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to be on-call

Note: Only candidates willing to work the night (overnight) shift will be considered.
