The Manufacturing Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating fabrication operations across both 1st and 2nd shifts to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This hands-on leadership role oversees personnel, production scheduling, quality standards, equipment utilization, and continuous improvement initiatives within the fabrication department. The supervisor must possess strong technical knowledge of fabrication equipment, including Laser Cutting Systems, Press Brakes, Powder Coating Operations, and Copper Punch Machinery, and be capable of training, troubleshooting, and supporting operators when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise daily fabrication operations across both 1st and 2nd shifts.
- Lead, coach, and develop fabrication team members to improve performance, productivity, and engagement.
- Ensure adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
- Schedule manpower and production resources to meet customer delivery commitments.
- Monitor production metrics and implement corrective actions to achieve operational goals.
- Oversee setup, operation, and maintenance of fabrication equipment including:
- Laser Cutting Machines
- CNC Press Brakes
- Powder Coat Line
- Copper Punch Equipment
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for equipment, tooling, and production issues.
- Verify product quality through inspections and adherence to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production Planning teams to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
- Conduct shift turnover meetings and maintain effective communication between 1st and 2nd shift teams.
- Support preventative maintenance programs and coordinate equipment repairs as necessary.
- Manage employee attendance, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and workforce development activities.
- Ensure proper inventory control of production materials, tooling, and consumables.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or technical training preferred.
- 5+ years of fabrication manufacturing experience in a supervisory or lead role.
- Demonstrated experience operating and troubleshooting:
- Laser Cutting Equipment
- Press Brake Equipment
- Powder Coating Systems
- Copper Punch Machines
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes, material handling, and production workflows.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours and provide support to both 1st and 2nd shift operations.
