Manufacturing Specialist (TPAs and Injectors) - C Shift

MANUFACTURING SPECIALIST (TPAS & INJECTORS) - C SHIFT

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support day-to-day production of the Merlin Turbopump Assemblies (TPAs) and Main Injector, which include manufacturing processes such as electron beam welding, non-destructive testing, pressure testing, industrial automation, heat treat, precision measurement and stack up, advance mechanical assembly, precision balancing and other specialized operations
  • Resolve product non-conformances, and collaborate with the quality team to investigate root cause and implement corrective actions
  • Manage work orders, and implement process improvements to maximize safety and hardware reliability; minimize production waste and cost
  • Collaborate with other engineers, subject matter experts, supply chain, and technicians to solve small to large-scale production challenges
  • Communicate on a daily basis with supporting departments such as production, machining, maintenance, quality, and design engineering to ensure that product is delivered on time and at rate
  • Develop, qualify, and refine manufacturing processes to meet all design and business requirements including safety, quality, efficiency and delivery
  • Provide subject matter expertise on multiple manufacturing processes and products, including peer mentoring and development of teammates
  • Identify and support the execution of design-for-manufacturability improvements which have system-wide improvements to the department
  • Drive and support initiatives to improve existing manufacturing processes and new product introduction for design and manufacturing changes

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, math or science discipline; OR high school diploma or equivalency certificate and 2+ years of professional experience in a hands-on manufacturing environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with the design, build, assembly, or integration of mechanical assemblies
  • Experience with aerospace welding systems (e.g. electron beam, TIG, friction stir)
  • Experience with non-destructive testing/non-destructive evaluation (e.g. fluorescent penetrant inspection, radiography, etc.)
  • Experience with debugging industrial equipment and high-pressure test carts
  • Experience writing work instructions and procedures for critical aerospace parts
  • Knowledge of metallic manufacturing techniques, processes, and equipment related to welding, metal forming, machining, bonding and/or automation
  • Demonstrated experience with CAD (NX & Teamcenter) and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) experience
  • Data analysis skills in Excel, SQL, or Power BI
  • Pareto analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective action experience
  • Capable of solving complex manufacturing problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to succinctly present recommendations to stakeholders, the customer, and management

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available to work C shift:
    • Wednesday – Saturday, 6:00AM – 6:00PM
  • Willing to work overtime and/or weekends as business needs dictate
  • This role will require you to work with technicians and require some hands-on work. Standing for long periods of time, grasping, bending and lifting up to 25 lbs. unassisted may be required

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Manufacturing Specialist/Level 1: $30.00 - $38.00/hour
Manufacturing Specialist/Level 2: $34.00 - $43.00/hour
Manufacturing Specialist/Level 3: $38.00 - $48.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
