Job summary

Whole Foods Market is seeking a Safety Specialist to oversee the safety program at our metro food manufacturing facility. This role requires prior experience in managing site safety in a manufacturing setting and offers a wage range of $27.00 to $45.50 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, leading training, and developing KPIs to drive continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with OSHA, HACCP, and FDA standards.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 2-4 years of experience in a safety or EHS role within a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, supply chain management, environmental health and safety, and OSHA.
• Experience with safety training and employee engagement programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Asset Protection team and facility leadership to maintain a safe and compliant environment per OSHA regulations and other laws.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments of the facility to identify hazards and non-compliance.
• Lead the implementation and improvement of the facility’s safety programs, policies, procedures, and training materials.
• Post-accident investigation, document and analyze safety incidents to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Establish and maintain safety training programs in accordance with IIPP and facility equipment.
• Create and maintain facility safety KPIs and generate reports for leadership and Store Support teams.
• Develop and deliver safety training and conduct regular safety meetings for new hires and temp workers.
• Provide coaching to Team Members on safety procedures and engage with them for feedback and improvement.
• Promote a safety-first culture with monthly safety meetings and the On Point program.
