Responsibilities

• Inspect worn tires for faults and determine if tires are suitable for retreading.
• Operate a buffing machine to remove treads from tires to be retreaded.
• Measure diameter and cross section to determine correct tread width.
• Build semi-raw rubber treads onto buffed tire casings for retreading and vulcanization prep.
• Place tire in chamber and program curing temperature as specified.
• Inspect for defects during curing and after repairs are made.
• Trim and paint finished retread; perform final inspection of repairs.
• Repair tires found defective and ensure quality control.
• Maintain stock of tread rubber and repair materials; assist in replenishment as needed.

Boulevard Tire Center is growing! We are looking for Manufacturing Retread Technician for our Jacksonville, FL location. Forklift experience a plus. We prefer 1 year manufacturing and production experience and must have excellent attention to detail, be flexible, have a good attendance and safety record, but if you a willingness to learn and interested in advancement we are willing to train!

JOB SUMMARY

Perform repetitive work to inspect, buff, repair, build, heat, seal tires through operating machines to re-build tires from rubber components.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Inspect worn tires for faults, cracks, cuts and nail holes, and to determine if tires are suitable for retreading.
• Operate a buffing machine to remove treads from tires to be retreaded, following specifications for depth and width removal.
• Measure diameter and cross section to determine correct tread width.
• Build semi-raw rubber treads onto buffed tire casings in order to prepare tires for vulcanization in recapping and retreading processes.
• Place tire in chamber and program correct curing temperature according to specification.
• Inspect tires to determine defects in curing (soft cures, ply separation, repairs missed, etc.).
• Trim and paint finished retread.
• Repair tires found defective during the process.
• Make final inspection of repair, cut tread design with re-grooving iron, paint tire and place in finished stock.

OTHER DUTIES

• Maintain a stock of tread rubber and repair materials, advise manager when replenishment is necessary.
• Ability and flexibility to perform other duties as assigned by Manager.
