Job description

Shape quality at SpringSeal, Inc.

Join SpringSeal, Inc. as a quality expert on our 2nd or 3rd shift, where you will safeguard product safety and compliance while elevating our Quality Management System (QMS). You will keep test equipment calibrated, prepare and analyze test data, maintain QMS documents and worksheets, and spot opportunities to strengthen process controls.

A day in the life

You start your shift by reviewing overnight quality alerts and checking calibration status of gauges. On the floor, you verify machine parameters and materials against work instructions, perform in-process checks between production stages, and support operators with clear guidance. When you encounter nonconforming material, you document the issue, initiate reports, and coordinate proper disposition. Before end of shift, you update Excel trackers for leadership and tidy your area to 5S standards.

What you will do

  • Inspect incoming materials and in-process/output product; identify nonconformances and generate reports per procedure.
  • Execute and document disposition of nonconforming materials (quarantine, rework, scrap, or return).
  • Create and maintain clear work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Develop and update Excel tracking sheets; analyze trends and prepare data for management reporting.
  • Conduct process audits to verify machine settings, materials, and operator adherence to work instructions.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, durometers, and other gauges to verify dimensional and functional accuracy.
  • Perform in-process verification at multiple stages of production to ensure specs are met.
  • Verify labeling accuracy on inbound materials and pre-shipment boxes.
  • Visually assess work areas for procedural and housekeeping compliance.
  • Inspect received materials for appearance, dimensions, and performance attributes.
  • Maintain a clean, uncluttered workspace in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Recommend and help implement safety and efficiency improvements to processes and equipment.
  • Support Engineering and Production teams with quality-related problem solving.
  • Maintain calibration status of test equipment and ensure accurate records.
  • Prepare test data, maintain QMS documents/worksheets, and identify areas for quality control improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in science/engineering with 2+ years in Quality (preferred), or high school/equivalent with 5+ years in Quality.
  • Clear communication skills and solid math capability, including unit conversions.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Word.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
  • Hands‑on familiarity with calipers, micrometers, and durometers.
  • Experience with Vision Measuring Systems is a plus.
  • High attention to detail with strong troubleshooting ability.
  • Able to read blueprints and interpret basic tolerances.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • High personal integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to perform under deadlines.

Physical requirements

Work is primarily in a busy industrial plant. You will stand and/or walk for an 8-hour shift, split time between office and shop floor, and push, pull, lift, or carry up to 25 lbs.
