Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly driven, skilled and hands-on individual to serve as our Quality Manager. This individual must have a proven record of leading a Quality Management System and directly influencing customer and company quality objectives.

The Quality Manager will manage a Quality Management System (QMS) that drives a "Zero-Defect Culture" across the manufacturing operation. This role ensures all precision machined components meet AS9100D, ISO 9001, ITAR, and specific customer requirements for commercial, aerospace, and defense applications.

The needed candidate will also be effective in achieving internal quality objectives such as scrap, rework, and cost of quality.

We also require an individual who will have a strong adherence to our Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Teamwork, Commitment to Excellence, and Passion.

Key Responsibilities
  • QMS Management & Compliance: Maintain and improve the AS9100 Rev. D QMS, ensuring full compliance with NADCAP, FAA, and ITAR regulations.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and evaluate the inspection and quality engineering team (QA/QC), including hiring, training, and scheduling.
  • Audit Management: Lead internal, customer, and third-party regulatory audits; manage CAPA (Corrective Action/Preventive Action) responses.
  • Inspection & Process Control: Oversee first article inspections (AS9102), in-process inspection, and final inspection of precision machined parts utilizing SPC (Statistical Process Control) to minimize process variation.
  • Customer & Supplier Quality: Act as the primary liaison for customer quality issues (e.g., NCR's, rejections, RMA's). Manage supplier quality requirements, including supplier evaluations and audits.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion Lean Manufacturing, 6S, and Root Cause Analysis (8D's, 5 Why's) to reduce scrap, rework and cost of quality (COPQ).
  • Documentation & MRB: Oversee Material Review Board (MRB) activities, document control, and configuration management.
  • Quality Planning & Strategic Initiatives: Lead the effort to plan and implement quality initiatives designed to achieve quality objectives.
  • Quality Reporting: Develop and implement a robust quality reporting system designed to solve quality problems and achieve company quality goals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience within a production machining company.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with CNC programming, operations, and process optimization.
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of process optimization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and interact with production teammates.
  • Must have the drive and ambition to learn and grow within the company.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and navigate ERP systems.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation in CNC machining processes.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and take on new challenges as needed.
