Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of product quality throughout the production process in our Tucson, AZ facility. They will also work to develop and implement quality control systems, outline effective process control plans. Also, this is a dynamic position since it will work with suppliers addressing issues or opportunities affecting production flow processes.

On a daily basis with cross-functional support, they will manage the internal and in-process quality operations of our machining, injection molding, and assembly processes by evaluating manufacturing processes, identifying non-conformities and performance concerns, coordinating problem solving and root cause analysis, providing feedback to suppliers regarding findings at receiving and/or detected at production processes, and implementing preventive solutions. This role will be critical in advocating and supporting the quality and business objectives within Parker Hannifin Corporation’s WIN Strategy by developing, modifying, applying, and maintaining quality standards for products and processes.

Scope / Supervision and Interaction
  • Reports to Plant Quality Manager.
  • Does not have direct reports.
  • Interacts cross-functionally with all internal departments and functions; with suppliers/vendors. Will work most closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations—including Manufacturing Engineering, Lean, and Production teams—but will also frequently interact with Marketing and Customer Experience.
Job Duties
  • Assess quality performance using statistical and analytical methods to evaluate the precision, reliability, and accuracy of products, processes, and production equipment. Create and implement various inspection and testing procedures.
  • Recommend and analyze advanced inspection equipment to accurately measure and verify product dimensions and specifications.
  • Develop and implement methods of using statistical process control to maintain product quality, and overall process performance. Ensure the processes implemented facilitate alerts to all necessary parties when quality and/or performance is at risk.
  • Continuously observe and evaluate production processes, identify quality performance trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions by leading and or participating in root cause analysis activities with internal teams.
  • Conduct in-house process and product audits at a regular cadence to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing quality data. Develop training materials based on this data, and conduct sessions to drive understanding of and adherence to the proper quality control activities.
  • Analyze process and product performance data, and use results to outline and establish quality systems, inspection plans, and procedures to ensure compliance with defined requirements.
  • Apply continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles to refine and enhance products and processes in production areas.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and participating in industry networks and professional associations.
  • Work with suppliers to establish quality standards for incoming materials and components, conducting audits and assessments as needed.
  • Maintain records/database of supplier performance, and address supplier corrective actions when needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Mechanical, Industrial, or Quality Engineering) or other related discipline.
  • 5+ years experience in Quality, Engineering, or other related field – must be within a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years working within a manufacturing facility with machining processes.
  • 3+ years of experience working with quality systems, programs, audits, and procedures.
  • Extensive experience with various mechanical inspection tools and methods.
  • Experience in advanced inspection equipment including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Vision Measuring Machines (VMM), or similar.
  • Experience working with supplier development programs (Supplier Quality Engineering).
  • Demonstrated experience in guiding structured change management activities across an organization, with the capability to prepare, support, and train stakeholders, and continuously evaluate process effectiveness and adoption.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
  • Excellent problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis skills, with ability to identify and resolve quality issues effectively.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and comprehensive understanding of quality tools (8D, FMEA, Control Plans, etc.).
  • Experience training personnel on key quality tools, problem solving, procedures.
  • Proven experience leading functional and cross‑functional teams on projects, with demonstrated success in achieving the project goals.
  • Excellent hands‑on experience working directly with production personnel to solve quality problems and improve quality control processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ISO9001 (or related) auditing, management, and maintenance. Lead or internal auditor certification preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand complex part drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to concisely explain complex issues supported with data.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with key manufacturing processes including assembly and machining, and the required techniques to manage quality performance.
