Job summary

Schaeffler invites applications for a Quality Engineer role in the United States. You will initiate manufacturing technology improvements, drive APQP concepts, and lead quality planning across product development, including line transfers and process modifications.

Responsibilities include designing inspection schemes, analyzing quality data, and managing 8D investigations with stakeholders. The position requires a Bachelor’s in engineering, SAP QM familiarity, and eligibility to work in the US.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledgeable in gauging techniques, including standard measurement tools and devices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work in team environments while managing multiple tasks with quality and efficiency.
  • Experienced in quality systems and tools, including advanced problem-solving methods.
  • External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment VISA or sponsorship.

Job description

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Initiate, drive, and coordinate the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing technologies for new and existing Schaeffler products by using statistical measures in terms of quality, efficiency, sustainability, and robustness.
  • Develop and implement quality concepts for Product Engineering Processes (PEP/APQP), production transfers, and technical process modifications.
  • Lead quality planning activities throughout product development phases, focusing on line transfers and manufacturing processes.
  • Design and enhance inspection concepts, gauges, and test equipment to meet quality requirements.
  • Analyze quality data and communicate insights effectively with project teams, global customers, and suppliers.
  • Serve as Project Engineer or Project Quality Engineer in complex projects when needed.
  • Manage customer complaints through the 8D process, ensuring timely investigation, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and effective communication with internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support quality audits, including internal Schaeffler system audits as well as external and customer audits, ensuring audit readiness, compliance, and follow-up on findings.
  • Cooperate closely with Schaeffler Operations manufacturing technology networks, division, business division, and business unit manufacturing technology groups, and within the region while maintaining close collaboration with other central functions like Purchasing, IT, Maintenance, and Quality.
Your Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field with at least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledgeable in gauging techniques, including standard measurement tools, optical comparators, and surface finish analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to effectively work in team environments while managing multiple tasks with quality and efficiency focus
  • Experienced in quality systems and tools, including advanced problem-solving methods
  • External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment VISA or other sponsorship

Preferred:

  • 3+ years experience in manufacturing or other engineering field
  • Familiarity with QM transactions in SAP
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints, especially with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
