This position is for theRailcar Division.

We are looking for aManufacturing Project Manager (Locomotive/Railcar)

Our client, Mobility, is seeking a professional Production Project Managerfor new dual-mode/battery locomotive product line with a proven track record of managing complex projects in a production environment. As a Production Project Manager, you will coordinate all production-related activities for a ground-breaking hybrid and battery locomotive project. You will manage all production schedules, quality, and budget requirements of the project and report directly to the Project Director.

  • Drive production milestones to meet the project schedule for vehicle delivery and acceptance.
  • Interface between project team and production operations
  • Liaison on the shop floor with production managers, foremen, and group leads. Ensure project needs are met, timelines followed, and goals achieved
  • Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., supplier quality, engineering)
  • Report progress to the project team
  • Potential future vendor interaction
  • Building dual-mode (diesel/electric) and battery locomotives for MTA NYC
  • New zero-emissions technology product line
  • Two-station setup in the final assembly area
  • Candidate will oversee production for three related projects
  • Effectively communicate and manage project expectations to production team members and production stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Organize interdepartmental activities and issues affecting production, including interactions with all production departments, including industrial engineering, design engineering, supply chain, quality management, and project management.
  • Develop and deliver monthly project reports, customer progress reports, customer change proposals, and presentations to management and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate project team members and contractors; influence them to take positive actions to forward the project in their assigned scope.
  • Report budget and schedule performance on a regular basis to the Project Management and initiate measures to mitigate any budget overruns or schedule slippage.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential problems, and devise contingency plans.
  • Drive cost reduction measures in operations departments related to the project.
  • Ensure all project quality requirements are met.
  • Coordinate and drive the resolution of issues impacting successful production activities.

Requirements:

  • BS/BA in related technical discipline, or advanced degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience in project management, industrial engineering, or operations management in an engineer-to-order, capital equipment manufacturing environment.
  • Key skills: manufacturing industry experience, engineering background, strong communication
  • Engineering background (bachelor's degree preferred, not required)
  • Local candidates preferred, but open to relocation (candidate expense)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Project management understanding
  • Lean management knowledge a plus
  • Veterans welcomed (good org. fit)
  • No specific certifications required (e.g., PMI nice-to-have, not mandatory)
  • SAP knowledge beneficial, not required
  • Demonstrated experience in the manufacturing of large and complex industrial products.

Preferred Skills:

  • BS degree in Industrial Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • MBA degree.
  • Experience in manufacturing a large engineer-to-order capital equipment environment.
  • Rail Industry experience.
