Job summary

CapstoneONE Search is seeking a Manufacturing Project Engineer to drive CAD-based plant layouts, equipment and machine design, and project engineering across capital projects and growth initiatives.

The role requires hands-on manufacturing knowledge, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to take projects from concept to installation while partnering with operations, maintenance, and EHS teams in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related technical discipline.
• Hands-on proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
• Experience in developing plant layouts, equipment designs, machine layouts, or related drawings.
• 2+ years in a manufacturing or industrial environment, handling capital projects or plant expansion.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain CAD drawings for plant layouts and equipment placement.
• Design and support modifications to manufacturing equipment and plant infrastructure.
• Lead and support capital projects from concept through installation and implementation.
• Evaluate engineering proposals and technical specifications to determine feasibility and design solutions.
• Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, EHS, contractors, and suppliers to execute projects with minimal production disruption.
• Provide hands-on support during equipment installation, commissioning, and problem solving.
• Support broader facility and equipment reliability and infrastructure planning.

Job description

A globally prominent and rapidly growing manufacturing organization is seeking to hire a Manufacturing Project Engineer to support current operations as well as significant capital projects, equipment upgrades, plant expansions, and manufacturing growth initiatives. This position will have a strong emphasis on CAD-based plant layout, equipment design, machine design, and project engineering, partnering closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, EHS, contractors, and plant leadership to develop and implement practical solutions within a complex industrial environment. The successful candidate will combine strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on manufacturing knowledge with the ability to take projects from concept and layout through equipment installation and implementation. This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain CAD drawings for plant layouts, equipment placement, production cells, machinery, utilities, piping, structural components, and future facility expansion projects.
• Design and support modifications to manufacturing equipment, machinery, tooling, and plant infrastructure based on production needs, available space, safety, ergonomics, cost, and long-term growth requirements.
• Lead and support capital projects involving new equipment, equipment upgrades, facility modifications, plant expansions, and manufacturing process improvements from initial concept through installation and implementation.
• Evaluate engineering proposals, equipment requirements, technical specifications, and manufacturing needs to determine project feasibility and develop effective design solutions.
• Partner closely with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, EHS, contractors, equipment suppliers, and other stakeholders to coordinate project execution while minimizing disruption to production.
• Provide hands-on engineering support during equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and process improvement activities.
• Support broader facility and equipment reliability needs as required, including troubleshooting, contractor coordination, maintenance-related projects, and long-term infrastructure planning.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
• Hands-on proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software, with demonstrated experience developing plant layouts, equipment designs, machine layouts, or related industrial drawings.
• Previous engineering experience (2+ years) within a manufacturing or industrial environment, ideally involving capital projects, equipment installation, machine design, plant layout, or facility expansion.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand manufacturing equipment, piping, structural layouts, utilities, and technical drawings or blueprints.
• Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders from concept through implementation.
