Job summary

ESPO Corporation in Maquoketa, IA is seeking a Manufacturing Production Operator for permanent, direct-hire placement. Starting pay varies by shift: $18.00/hour (1st), $19.25/hour (2nd/3rd), with weekend rates of $22.25/hour on Saturday and $25.25/hour on Sunday.

Shifts run 1st, 2nd, or 3rd; schedules are six days on, two off, with weekend work as part of rotation and occasional weekend days off every seven weeks.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED; technical school degree desirable.
  • Weekend work required with generous pay differential for weekend work.
  • Manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various separating, drying, and/or bagging equipment.
  • Operate equipment and dryers to achieve required efficiency.
  • Monitor equipment and process to maintain performance.
  • Follow production SOPs and respond to process upsets and alarms.
  • Maintain a clean work area after each shift.
  • Participate in TPM in appropriate areas.
  • Participate in monthly safety, quality & food defense trainings.
  • Prioritize safety in accordance with company rules.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing training and internal audits.
  • Be aware of and contribute to Darling's food safety program.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job description

Manufacturing Production Operator

Location: Maquoketa, IA

Permanent/Direct Hire

You’ll start out earning $18.00/hour (if on 1st shift) and if you work 2nd or 3rd shift, you’ll start out at $19.25/hour. And if you work a weekend shift, you make $22.25/hr. on Saturday and $25.25/hr. on Sunday!

1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift open:

  • 1st shift hours: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • 2nd shift hours: 4:00 PM - Midnight
  • 3rd shift hours: Midnight - 8:00 AM

Schedule: All our operators work 6 days on 2 days off so weekend work is just part of the regular rotation. You’ll have both weekend days off once every 7 weeks. 3 out of 7 weeks will have at least 1 weekend day off.

Our client, a worldwide Agri-Food ingredient manufacturer, wants to expand their corporate team by adding a new Manufacturing Production Operator to their Iowa location.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate various separating, drying, and/or bagging equipment.
  • Operate equipment and Dryers to the require efficiency.
  • Monitor equipment and process to accomplish process.
  • Follow production standard operating procedures (SOP's) as instructed.
  • Respond to process upsets and alarms appropriately.
  • Assures equipment and work area is clean after each shift.
  • Responsible for TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) in appropriate areas.
  • Participate in monthly training sessions for Safety, Quality & Food Defense.
  • Maintain safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing Training and partake in Internal Audits.
  • As trained, be aware of and responsible for their role in Darling's food safety program.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. (technical school degree is desirable).
  • Weekend work is required (generous pay differentialprovided for weekend work).
  • Manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural experience preferred.
Preferred Experience
  • 1-3 years industrial experience a plus.
  • Some knowledge of mechanical and process equipment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and skilled in safe operating of equipment.
  • Ability to deal with minor problems involving equipment or various situations.
  • Works well with others in a team environment.
