The Manufacturing and Process Technician is an experienced technical resource supporting manufacturing operations and the Manufacturing Engineering team. This hands‑on role works closely with operators, engineers, quality, and maintenance to troubleshoot equipment and process issues, maintain stable production, and implement improvements in safety, quality, scrap, productivity, and efficiency.

The Technician will spend significant time on the production floor providing technical guidance and training to operators, troubleshooting and repairing equipment, and supporting root cause and corrective action activities. This role also supports Manufacturing Engineers by executing studies, collecting and analyzing data, developing tooling and fixtures, implementing process improvements, and preparing manufacturing documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program using Mastercam, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes to manufacture prototype and development components.
  • Independently determine machining approach, tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and setup requirements for prototype and low‑volume work.
  • Perform tool offsets and adjustments and maintain a high level of precision throughout machining operations.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, process sheets, technical sketches, and CAD models.
  • Machine metal and plastic components to specified dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
  • Work directly with engineers and other technical personnel to understand part functionality, assembly requirements, and design intent.
  • Provide manufacturability feedback and recommend design or process changes when appropriate.
  • Support 3D printing/additive manufacturing, including preparing builds, operating equipment, removing completed parts, and performing basic post‑processing.
  • Inspect completed components using appropriate precision measurement equipment to verify dimensional requirements.
  • Support prototype assembly, modification, troubleshooting, and other hands‑on development activities as needed.
  • Maintain equipment, tooling, and work areas in accordance with established safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support tasks outside of traditional machining responsibilities based on the needs of the Model Shop and engineering teams.

  • Skilled in the use of precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, and go/no‑go gauges.
  • Proficiency working with both metric and U.S. customary measurement systems.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM software and the ability to work from 3D CAD models.
  • Ability to independently plan and execute prototype machining work with limited established processes or instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail.
