Job summary

Astrion is seeking a Manufacturing Process Planner Estimator to support the METTS III contract at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. The role requires deep experience in machining, process planning, and cost estimating for prototype and production hardware.

You will develop detailed process plans, collaborate with engineers and technicians, and seek ways to improve efficiency and dimensional accuracy while adhering to NASA safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Formal training in machine shop practices and basic computer skills.
• 10 years of machine shop experience minimum.
• Knowledge of blueprint reading, machining processes, and fabrication methods.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and document manufacturing processes.
• Develop detailed process plans, estimates, pricing, and schedules.
• Interpret and translate drawings, blueprints, specs into work orders.
• Plan sequences of operations with original setups, tooling, machining techniques.
• Estimate manpower, materials, tooling, and machine requirements.
• Outline machining processes for unusual angles and complex geometries.
• Apply shop math to compute angles, hole patterns, and diameters.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and shop personnel.
• Suggest methods to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Perform fabrication or assembly labor as needed.
