Job summary

MPI is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations, leading capital equipment projects, tooling optimization, and standardization efforts. You will collaborate with global teams to implement best practices, reduce waste, and improve quality and throughput in a highly regulated environment.

The role requires a mechanical engineering background, 5+ years in manufacturing, and expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and DFMA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting assembly, testing, automated manufacturing, or production environments.
  • Strong understanding of process optimization and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience using SPC and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of FMEA, DFMA, RCA, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing processes and implement sustainable improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, throughput, and overall operational performance.
  • Develop, standardize, and optimize tooling, fixtures, equipment, and assembly processes across multiple production areas.
  • Collaborate with global engineering and operations teams to implement best practices and support standardization.
  • Identify and execute capital equipment projects for facility growth and increased production capacity.
  • Partner with production teams to improve product quality, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing process controls, work instructions, and SOPs.
  • Support new product introduction activities to ensure robust, scalable processes.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and production issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Specify, procure, and qualify manufacturing equipment, tooling, gauges, and assembly aids.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and support resolution of production challenges and customer-related quality concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA, DFMA, SPC, and RCA methodologies to drive improvements.
