Current Lighting in Christiansburg, VA, is looking for an Industrial Engineer to develop and maintain manufacturing and process strategies, select and maintain equipment, and train operators in a collaborative environment.

The role emphasizes continuous improvement (Kaizen/lean), safety, quality, service and cost goals, with responsibilities spanning process layout, line balancing, ETO for SAP and NPI support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience.
• Proficiency in CAD, preferably AutoCAD & Solid Edge.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain manufacturing/process strategy.
• Lead Kaizen and lean events to improve safety, quality, service and cost.
• Prepare plant layouts to maximize space, flow and safety.
• Prepare, implement and follow-up on line balances and methods improvements to insure effective cost reductions in labor and material.
• Provide engineering assistance on the shop floor.
• Lead Pilot runs on new products and perform first article inspections.
