Job summary

MEPPI is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer I to support development and continuous improvement of processes, products, and production methods. You will liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality while introducing new technologies.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 1–3 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a cross-functional liaison between Design, Manufacturing, and Quality to support improvements.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment.
  • Drive continuous improvement to reduce costs and increase efficiency and quality.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with Design Engineering to create/modify BOMs and BOMFs.
  • Ensure BOM and manufacturing structures support cost-effective production.
  • Support new product introduction and transition to production.
  • Maintain assembly procedures and manufacturing documentation in systems like QUINTERRA.
  • Collaborate across the division to drive excellence and safety compliance.

Powering Manufacturing Excellence Through Process Innovation!

MEPPI’s Switchgear Division (SWGD) is seeking a driven and technically skilled Manufacturing Process Engineer I to support the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, products, and production methods. In this role, you will serve as a key liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and suppliers to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality while supporting the successful introduction of new products and manufacturing technologies.

What You'll Do
Serve as a Cross-Functional Engineering Liaison:

Act as a primary technical link between Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to support product and process improvements.

Develop & Improve Manufacturing Processes:

Research, design, and implement manufacturing processes and methods, including production flow, assembly techniques, tooling, and equipment improvements.

Drive Continuous Improvement Initiatives:

Analyze products and manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction, quality improvements, and increased operational efficiency.

Resolve Manufacturing Challenges:

Investigate assembly and production issues and work collaboratively with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing personnel to implement effective solutions.

Support Bills of Material & Manufacturing Structures:

Coordinate with Design Engineering to create and modify Bills of Material (BOMs) and Bills of Manufacture (BOMFs) that support product and process improvements.

Optimize Manufacturing Data Structures:

Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Purchasing to ensure BOM and manufacturing structures support efficient production processes and cost-effective procurement practices.

Support New Product Introduction:

Provide engineering guidance for product standardization initiatives, prototype development, new product launches, and the transition of new products into production.

Maintain Manufacturing Documentation:

Assist with the creation, implementation, and maintenance of assembly procedures and manufacturing documentation within Switchgear’s manufacturing engineering systems, including QUINTERRA.

Collaborate Across the Division:

Support Design Engineering, Production, Manufacturing, Quality, and Division leadership with technical expertise and project execution.

Promote Division Excellence:

Further the goals and professional image of SWGD through effective collaboration with suppliers and internal departments.

Champion Quality & Safety:

Maintain a strong understanding of MEPPI’s Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies and support compliance throughout all manufacturing activities.

What You Bring
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering or technical discipline
  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Technical Expertise
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical assembly methods, fabrication processes, and manufacturing practices
  • Strong understanding of industrial engineering principles and lean manufacturing methodologies
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings and engineering documentation
Skills & Attributes

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Technology Proficiency

Physical & Travel Requirements
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% as required
