PCC Mason, located in West Chester Township, OH was established in 2019 as PCC Fastener Division's Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence. PCC Mason focusses on design, development & implementation of highly automated and intelligent advanced manufacturing processes for high volume aerospace fastener manufacturing throughout PCC's fastener manufacturing divisions & plants.







The Manufacturing Process Engineer - Heading, will be responsible for development, implementation, and continually improve our heading process for manufacture of aerospace fasteners from specialty materials such as Titanium Alloys, Stainless Steel, etc.

This role will be a "hands-on" role & involves evaluating and refining heading process through process enhancements and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity and ensure consistent product quality in a high-performance manufacturing environment. Prior hands-on experience in operation & tool design of headers / bolt makers (national, Formax, Carlo-Salvi, etc.) is highly desirable.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize warm heading processes and tooling to improve production efficiency, quality, and throughput.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing operations and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
  • Develop and implement best practices for warm heading, including setup procedures, material selection, and quality control.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related quality and equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, and Production teams to ensure smooth operation and continuous improvement.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) through tooling development, prototyping, and production readiness assessments.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and PFMEAs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.

Required Skills:

  • Familiarity with setup & operation of multi-die cold headers and progressive tooling.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and its impact on cold heading processes.
  • Hands-on experience with machine troubleshooting and setup optimization.
  • Understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and process capability analysis.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably in cold heading, cold forming, or precision metal forming.
  • Strong understanding of cold heading equipment, tooling, and materials.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor) and manufacturing data analysis tools.
  • Hands on experience with setup & operation cold heading equipment (National, Formax, Carlo-Salvi, etc.) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Working Conditions:

  • This position typically spends 50% of work time on the production floor and 50% of work time in an office environment.
  • Intermittent exposure to moderate noise in a indoor manufacturing environment.
  • Occasional travel to other facilities within PCC, Vendor & training sites required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on an intermittent basis.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis.
  • Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, pushing, and pulling of materials.
  • Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
  • Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
  • Must be able to wear all the required Personal Protective Equipment.
