Job summary

ALKU, a leading provider of medical device manufacturing solutions, is seeking three on-site Process Engineers to support regulated manufacturing operations in Salt Lake City, Utah. Strong backgrounds in continuous improvement, GMP/GXP, and process qualification are required.

Candidates with heat treatment, electropolishing, or laser cutting experience will be prioritized. You will lead Lean and Six Sigma projects, perform IQ/OQ/PQ, apply DOE and FMEA, and maintain SOPs and change documents

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of process engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device or pharma)
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification with documented projects and results
  • Hands-on IQ/OQ/PQ experience from protocol development through execution and reporting
  • Knowledge of GMP/GXP requirements in a regulated environment
  • Strong analytical skills with Gage R&R, DOE, and SPC

Responsibilities

  • Lead process improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma from problem identification to solution implementation and effectiveness verification
  • Execute and support equipment and process qualifications including IQ/OQ/PQ protocols and reports
  • Apply structured problem-solving tools (Gage R&R, DOE, FMEA, RCA) to resolve manufacturing issues
  • Maintain GMP/GXP compliance and document activities per procedures
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with quality, engineering, and operations to resolve manufacturing challenges
  • Author and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and engineering change documentation
  • Support characterization and process development activities across manufacturing operations

Job description

Our client, a leading global medical device company, is seeking three Process Engineers to support manufacturing operations. These are fully on-site roles requiring candidates with strong continuous improvement backgrounds, GMP/GXP experience, and a solid foundation in regulated manufacturing processes. Metals manufacturing experience is a strong differentiator - candidates with heat treatment, electropolishing, or laser cutting experience will be prioritized.

Responsibilities
  • Support and drive process improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies - owning projects from problem identification through solution implementation and effectiveness verification
  • Execute and support equipment and process qualifications including IQ/OQ/PQ protocols and reports
  • Apply structured problem-solving tools including Gage R&R, DOE, FMEA, and root cause analysis to resolve manufacturing process issues
  • Maintain compliance with GMP/GXP standards - ensuring all activities are documented and executed per established procedures
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with quality, engineering, and operations teams to resolve manufacturing challenges
  • Author and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and engineering change documentation
  • Support characterization and process development activities across manufacturing operations
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of process engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing environment - medical device or pharma required
  • Engineering degree required - Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering preferred
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification required - must be able to speak to specific projects, tools used, and measurable results
  • Hands-on IQ/OQ/PQ experience - must be able to walk through a full qualification from protocol development through execution and reporting
  • Working knowledge of GMP/GXP requirements in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical skills - experience with Gage R&R, DOE, and statistical process control
Preferred Qualifications
  • Metals manufacturing experience strongly preferred - heat treatment, electropolishing, or laser cutting
  • Alternative: plastics processing experience - polymerization, extrusion, or injection molding
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification with documented project results
  • 10+ years of process engineering experience (at least one of the three openings will target this level)
