Description

Position: Industrial Maintenance Mechanic 2 - AM Shift

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Team Lead

Salary Type: Hourly

Location: Jackson, GA

Position Summary:

This role supports production by safely maintaining equipment to ensure high-quality output. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing manufacturing equipment issues, performing routine maintenance, and adhering to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to manufacturing practices, PPE requirements, and safety guidelines.
  • Perform mechanical adjustments such as tensioning belts and tracking chains.
  • Operate safely around moving equipment in wet environments.
  • Use standard hand tools proficiently.
  • Conduct building mechanical repairs and replacements.
  • Change motors, pulleys, gearboxes, and belts.
  • Perform plumbing repairs like unclogging drains and replacing fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical systems including drives and pumps.
  • Perform scheduled and emergency repairs on equipment and structures.
  • Replace blades and perform adjustments on slicers, cutters, and dicers.
  • Read piping diagrams and identify system components.
  • Implement lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Operate shop tools and equipment safely.
  • Comply with SQF and other regulatory programs.
  • Complete work orders, paperwork, and read schematics.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Willingness to work in cold environments.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of chain drives, sprockets, and gearboxes.
  • Understanding of cleaning and degreasing techniques.
  • Knowledge of safety guidelines, efficiencies, and downtime.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • At least 1 year of mechanical experience.
  • GED or High School Diploma preferred.

Physical Work Environment:

This position involves working at heights, near moving parts, and in extreme cold. It may require climbing ladders and working in high, precarious places. Exposure to wet conditions, chemicals, fumes, and noise is possible. Safety precautions are mandatory.
