Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Plant, chemical, petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing accounting experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with GL accounting, AP, billing, sales and use tax, bank reconciliations, cost accounting, capital projects, and fixed assets.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close procedures.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and MS Office skills.
• Stable employment history with progressive responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process general ledger entries, accounts receivable, and accounts payable transactions in accordance with GAAP and company requirements.
• Maintain vendor master files and verify the accuracy of vendor information and invoices.
• Obtain required invoice approvals, assign GL codes, enter invoices for payment, and maintain supporting documentation.
• Assist with the preparation and distribution of annual Form 1099 reporting.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts.
• Review and reconcile general ledger activity related to accrued payables.
• Prepare month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Calculate and accrue monthly Texas sales and use tax and assist with required filings.
• Process employee expense reports and verify compliance with company policies.
• Prepare direct-bill invoices with supporting documentation and submit them for payment.
• Maintain the fixed asset system and prepare related reports and reconciliations.
• Manage accounting for capital projects and prepare monthly capital project reports.
• Assist with the facility's annual operating budget, depreciation budget, and long-range financial plans.
• Prepare and distribute variable-cost reports for management.
• Review, code, and assess applicable taxes for maintenance invoices and month-end accruals.
• Prepare census and financial reports for outside organizations as required.
• Provide documentation and reports for audits.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial, cost, and property-tax accounting processes.
• Provide support to the Controller and serve as a backup when needed.
• Participate in loss-control inspections, audits, hazard reviews, and safety-improvement initiatives.
• Complete required regulatory and safety training and comply with all applicable policies and regulations.
