Summary:

Ensures that the frame matches tray work order. Verifies shape and cuts the lenses down to the proper size using a computerized roughing/milling machine (edger). Performs support functions within the edging area to include basic upkeep of the area.

Pay Class and Pay

Pay Class: Full Time

Pay: $18.10 - $19.16 per hour

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Prioritize tray processing flow as dictated by tray color/priority sticker.
  2. Select appropriate job number for processing.
  3. Ability to properly turn on main power, initialize edger startups, perform reboots and recover from edger/robot errors.
  4. Properly trace frame prior to edging operation.
  5. Validate shape display to job in process.
  6. Correctly load jobs tray onto the edger conveyor.
  7. Verify lenses have been properly edged and are on size.
  8. Clean grinding chambers, clean the exterior of the machine and coolant reservoirs.
  9. Validate operation of lens sizing, edge polish and bevel placement.
  10. Ability to communicate and escalate with peers and principles.
  11. Ensure and maintain the cleanliness of all equipment, workstations and overall facility.
  12. Practice and comply with all requirements promoting a safe and healthy workplace environment.

Education:

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience preferred.

Experience & Background:

One (1) to three (3) years of related manufacturing experience preferred. Endorsement required for manual edging process.

Language Skills:

Ability to read English in order to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills:

General mathematical skills to include basic adding, subtracting, multiplication and division.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to think logically in following procedures and instructions. General problem-solving abilities. Exhibit sound and accurate judgment and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.

The noise level in this location is moderate (use of computers, printers, and machines). Limit weight for lifting, pulling and pushing is no more than 50 pounds. When lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, requirement is to use two or more people to lift the load. Ability to work varying schedules to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
