Job summary

RTX Corporation in the United States is seeking a Certified Operator for Pratt & Whitney components on a 3rd shift (11:30 PM–7:00 AM). The program trains candidates with little or no machining background to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines and related equipment, advancing through certification.

You'll attend a 3‑week training and 4–8 weeks of on‑the‑job training, learning to read sheets, verify parts with precision tools, and collaborate with engineers and QA to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED.
  • 1+ years of manufacturing, automotive or related trade experience.
  • Ability to make computations involving decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, vertical turret lathes or VTC’s to perform routine production operations on a variety of similar weldments and assemblies.
  • Learn to work from operation sheets, part travelers, BOROPS, and oral instruction to set up equipment for grinding, turning, facing, boring and/or chamfering operations involving a limited number of surfaces to be machined.
  • Learn to verify conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Obtain operator Certification to be able to accept/reject parts.
  • Learn to maintain machines by performing required total preventive maintenance (TPM).
  • Learn to work collaboratively with engineers, quality assurance, programmers and other production personnel to resolve machining problems.

What You Will Do

This is a 3RD shift Opportunity Monday - Friday ( 5 x 8hour shifts) 11:30PM - 7AM

This position is designed to give individuals with little or no machining or grinding background the skills they need to become a Certified Operator at Pratt & Whitney.

Employees selected for this position will attend a 3-week training program and participate in 4-8 weeks of the on the job training.

Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, vertical turret lathes or VTC’s to perform routine production operations on a variety of similar weldments and assemblies.

The salary range for this role is $17.13-$30.10 . The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
