Job summary

Axalta is seeking a Manufacturing Operator (Chemical Mixing) at our Madison, AL plant. Training on 1st shift, then move to 2nd shift (3:00pm–11:30pm). Requires a High School Diploma and 2+ years in manufacturing, preferably chemical mixing or batch making.

The role involves pre-mixing, loading, filling, testing and cleaning to meet schedules and safety standards. Operator will learn production equipment, follow SOPs, QC checks, and maintain clean work areas while handling hazardous materials

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• 2 years of manufacturing experience, preferably chemical mixing or batch making.
• Must be able to obtain forklift license.
• Read and follow batch instructions, weights and measurements accurately.
• Strong teamwork and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties safely following company policies and procedures.
• Blend batch to designated formula.
• Learn to fill-off batches and fill batches.
• Record all adjustments made to batches.
• Ensure the work area is cleaned after each batch.
• Follow fill‑out instructions for filter/straining and labeling.
• Select approved batches per ship date or supervisor instructions.
• Set up filtering equipment and operate filling equipment.
• Operate PMHE and control waste generation.
• Unload and load bulk materials with appropriate handling equipment.

Job Description:

The Huntsville, AL plant is looking for a Plant Operator who is action oriented, can make quality decisions quickly and possess excellent trouble shooting skills. The successful candidate in an Operator position will be trained in all facets of production (pre-mixing and material loading for batches, filling product into shipping containers, distribution, testing, sampling, and cleaning) to learn these essential duties of the position. The incumbent must operate production equipment safely to ensure the highest quality and correct quantity in accordance with the production schedule, standard operating procedures and supervisory instructions. Position duties and responsibilities can change regularly based on business needs. Operators will understand the mechanics of how to operate various types of equipment with confidence. Types of equipment include but are not limited to, labeler, filler machines, air pumps, high speed dispersers, air mixers, and weight scales within the department. Solve routine problems associated with job responsibilities. Ensures the highest product quality possible while adhering to all safety, environmental and work rules.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Performs all duties in a safe working manner, following all of the Company safety policies and procedures
• Blend batch to designated formula
• Learn how to fill-off batches and fill batches
• Record all adjustments made to batches
• Upon completion of batch make sure work area is cleaned up
• Follow batch fill-out instructions as they relate to filter/straining requirements, container requirements, agitation of material requirements and labeling requirements
• Select approved batches to be filled by ship date or supervisors’ instructions
• Set up filtering equipment per batch ticket instructions and operate filling equipment
• Operate PLC Directly responsible for housekeeping and control of waste generation
• Operation of powered material handling equipment (PMHE) to move, store, load, and unload hazardous finished product(s) Unloading and loading of bulk
  

Required:

• High School Diploma
• Math and problem-solving; mechanical, numerical and verbal aptitude to learn our jobs quickly
• Ability to be licensed to operate fork trucks
• Demonstrated ability to demonstrate collaboration skills and work within self-managed team environment
• Must be able to read and follow, weight fractions of ounces, and measure accurately by gallons, pints and ounces (good math skills)

Preferred:

• Chemical plant/paint making experience
• Able to demonstrate basic computer skills,
• Prior experience operating fork trucks
