Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining top quality firelogs & firestarters at regulated speeds to meet production requirements.
  • Distribution of mix into the extruders, maintains proper log weights.
  • Performs initial quality checks as product comes out of the extruders and takes appropriate action as needed including stopping production line due to poor quality of mix.
  • Perform all aspects of Machine Operator I and General Laborer jobs.
  • Completion of all required paperwork.
  • Assist in checking all materials and supplies and takes appropriate action to prevent or limit the receipt of nonconforming materials.
  • Assists in investigations to determine causes of quality defects.
  • Performs daily preventative maintenance and safety inspections on assigned equipment.
  • Reports any issues to supervisor.
  • Observes Plant safety rules.
  • Assists in identifying and eliminating safety hazards and/or concerns.
  • Performs all job duties in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Contributes to Plant cost reduction.
  • Participates in 5S initiatives by maintaining a neat and orderly work area.
  • Facilitates team concepts by working cooperatively and productively with others to complete assigned tasks.
  • Reports any problems or concerns to supervisor.

Position Summary

The Transfer/Wrapper Operator is responsible for performing and/or overseeing all job functions of at least one production line. This will include the extruder, wrapper, packing and palletizing functions.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintaining top quality firelogs & firestarters at regulated speeds to meet production requirements
  • Distribution of mix into the extruders, maintains proper log weights
  • Performs initial quality checks as product comes out of the extruders and takes appropriate action as needed including stopping production line due to poor quality of mix
  • Perform all aspects of Machine Operator I and General Laborer jobs
  • Completion of all required paperwork
  • Assist in checking all materials and supplies and takes appropriate action to prevent or limit the receipt of nonconforming materials.
  • Assists in investigations to determine causes of quality defects.
  • Performs daily preventative maintenance and safety inspections on assigned equipment. Reports any issues to supervisor.
  • Complies with assigned production goals and follows proper procedures to achieve these goals. Informs supervisor when it appears that production goals will not be met.
  • Observes Plant safety rules. Assists in identifying and eliminating safety hazards and/or concerns.
  • Performs all job duties in a timely and efficient manner. Contributes to Plant cost reduction.
  • Participates in 5S initiatives by maintaining a neat and orderly work area.
  • Facilitates team concepts by working cooperatively and productively with others to complete assigned tasks.
  • Reports any problems or concerns to supervisor.
  • Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, or others, or to property. Defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.
  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential job functions between the assigned start and end times for work.
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.

Physical Requirements And Work Environment
  • Standing/walking for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work overtime or on weekends with short notice
  • Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds
  • Typical manufacturing environment with concrete floors and moving equipment
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
