Job description

Application close date:Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. At Blue Origin, We Envision Millions of People Living and Working in Space for the Benefit of EarthWe're working to develop safe and affordable access to space for the benefit of humankind. To achieve this vision, Blue Origin's Engines business unit is scaling production against a schedule that starts now, not in a decade. This role sits inside the group building the Manufacturing Operations Platform (MOP ) — the digital system that will run the factory floor across every site we operate. Work orders, inventory, maintenance, quality, worker time-keeping , machine connectivity, and the digital thread that ties them together. Our target is a factory that runs itself: managing its own exceptions, dispatching its own work, learning from every unit produced, and telling anyone in the business exactly what is happening on the floor at any moment. AI-first. Industry 4.0/5.0. Built on modern tooling, designed to scale from where we are today to where we will be in five years. As a Manufacturing Operations Platform Engineer II, You WillEmbed daily with the warehouse, assembly, and maintenance teams to understand how work actually gets done — where the friction lives, where the manual workarounds have crept in, and what the platform needs to do next.Own features end-to-end. Talk to operators, write the design, build the implementation (using AI-assisted development in a modern codebase), test it locally, ship it through peer review, and iterate with real users after every release.Drive the physical-to-digital connectivity of the factory alongside the automation team: integrate machines, PLCs, HMIs, and process data into the platform, and eventually have the platform integrate back to equipment.Own the connective tissue between the shop floor and the rest of the digital architecture — the software integrations that let Canopy talk to and be talked to by the platforms around it. That means integrating with our internal MES, WMS, worker registry, quality, maintenance, cost attribution, and scheduling surfaces on the inside, and with adjacent systems (ERP, MRP, PLM, Workday, and machine-level PLCs and HMIs) on the outside.Contribute to the design of the real-time factory model, the digital twin, and the analytics layer that turns floor data into decisions across a fleet of machines and, eventually, a fleet of factories.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, industrial technology, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience in a production manufacturing environment.3+ years of manufacturing operations experience covering the full lifecycle — how a part moves from a released design, through a work order, across a shop floor, through receiving and inventory, to a finished product — with hands-on exposure to the software systems that run each of those steps (any of: MES, WMS, ERP, MRP, PLM, quality-management, or maintenance-management systems).Direct working experience with quality in practice — first-article inspection, in-process inspection, non-conformances, corrective action, calibration.Comfort using AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) to accelerate implementation.Experience leading, coordinating, or supervising a team executing production work.Strong written and verbal communication skills. This role sits between operators, engineers, and program leadership every day.Direct experience integrating software systems in a manufacturing context — e.g., integrating an MES to an ERP, wiring a WMS to a shipping system, feeding machine data into a historian or MES, or building the API/data contract between two production systems. Comfort operating with ambiguity and building outcomes from the ground up rather than executing against a fully-defined spec.Desired QualificationsPrior manufacturing experience in an industrial-equipment , capital-equipment , sheet-metal, welding, fabrication, or machining environment.Deep working knowledge of one or more of MES, WMS, ERP, MRP, maintenance-management, or quality systems — as an implementer, integrator, or configuration leadExposure to PLCs, HMIs, OPC-UA, MQTT, MTConnect , machine data acquisition, or SCADA.Prior work in a small team where you owned outcomes end-to-end rather than pieces of them.Prior experience shipping software integrations end-to-end — designing the interface, writing the connector, testing it against a real counterpart system, and iterating on production feedback. Comfort with modern software development workflow (Git, code review, merge requests) is expectedExperience with continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or Industry 4.0 initiatives.Culture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
