Job summary

NDI is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern – Manufacturing to support development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and equipment for precision medical device components.

You will work with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Operations to ensure compliant, efficient production in a regulated ISO 13485 environment, gaining hands-on experience in documentation, testing, and tooling development.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to accurately document technical work.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or equivalent 3D CAD modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, documentation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, assembly procedures, and production work instructions.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams to identify and implement improvements to manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling.
• Support equipment verification and validation activities, including test execution, data collection, analysis, and documentation.
• Assist with preventive maintenance activities on production equipment, including maintenance execution, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Develop and modify 3D CAD models of components, fixtures, and manufacturing tooling, including the use of 3D printing for prototyping and process improvement.
• Investigate manufacturing issues, assist with root cause analysis, and support the implementation of corrective actions and process improvements.
• Support the creation and maintenance of manufacturing engineering documentation in accordance with established quality management procedures and ISO 13485 requirements.
• Perform other engineering and manufacturing support activities as required.
