Qualifications

  • Experience with ERP systems for material movement and inventory accuracy is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Material movements using ERP for inventory accuracy.
  • Stage wire for next coil or part at each machine to minimize downtime.
  • Load replacement wire coils and verify coils on the turntable.
  • Create tub tags and report quantities in ERP and travelers.
  • Move tubs from machine to stage locations and weigh completed parts as needed.
  • Unload empties from trucks to designated areas.
  • Tag or move suspect materials for quality control as directed.
  • Assist in keeping machine areas clean and safe daily.

Job Title: Manufacturing Material Handler

Basic Job Functions:

Altenloh, Brinck & Co. US, Inc. manufactures and distributes engineered fasteners under the SPAX® brand for the construction market, TRUFAST® for the commercial roofing industry and TRUFAST Walls® for exterior building envelopes and facades. The material Handler is responsible for unloading wire trucks and organizing the wire according to wire size and wire heat working with our Kanban system. The material Handler will also be responsible for helping in the MFG department with loading machines with wire, dumping scrap and organizing tubs when wire trucks are not available to be unloaded.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Material movements: Utilized the company ERP system to preform material movement and maintain accurate inventory.
  • Stage wire needed for next coil/part as needed at each machine: Have coils prepared for operators in the event a coil runs out, or a part changeover is made requiring a new coil of material.
  • Load replacement wire coils: Work with operators to ensure forklift is available and if needed load next coil needed on turntable to minimize machine downtime for a coil change.
  • Create Tub tags: Report tub quantities in the companies ERP system, verify the tag for accuracy via the job traveler and ERP, and create a drill strip to place in the tub when required.
  • Move tubs of reported quantities: Move tubs from machine location to stage location as parts are completed by operators. If needed, complete weigh count on completed parts.
  • Empty Tubs: Unload empty tubs from trucks to designated areas.
  • Tag/move suspect or rejected materials for quality: At the direction of quality personnel move/scrap materials as needed.
  • Assist operators on machine area cleanliness: Work with operators continuously to keep all areas clean from debris and mop as needed. Sweep and mop all common areas at least daily and as needed.
  • Maintain forklift records and battery condition: Complete required forklift checks, plug in batteries for quick charge, and initiate battery equalization as needed to maintain proper conditioning.
  • Empty large scrap hoppers and staged bins: Throughout the shift take large containment bins to outdoor scrap hoppers, ensuring that at or near the end of shift these are empty.
  • Communicate with following shift: Notify material handler for next shift of status on each operational item to maximize machine uptime (i.e., review next coils to load, tubs to move, scrap to empty etc.)
  • Update Amba communication board: Maintain accurate information on the communication board (upcoming die changes, job changes, proper coil tags, when a FPR is needed)
  • Die Life Book: update the Die Life book at the end of each shift and communicate if any changes are needed.

Position Requirements

Experience:

  • Previous material handling experience preferred

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required

Physical Requirements:
