Lead manufacturing engineering and facility maintenance activities supporting production, quality, safety, and operational efficiency. Oversee the maintenance and reliability of manufacturing equipment, building systems, utilities, and facility infrastructure. This includes monitoring quality control, optimizing productivity, and implementing process improvements. This position will be responsible for improving manufacturing processes, equipment reliability, productivity, and safety while ensuring the facility, utilities, and production equipment are properly maintained and operational.

Job Description

Lead manufacturing engineering and facility maintenance activities supporting production, quality, safety, and operational efficiency. Oversee the maintenance and reliability of manufacturing equipment, building systems, utilities, and facility infrastructure. This includes monitoring quality control, optimizing productivity, and implementing process improvements. This position will be responsible for improving manufacturing processes, equipment reliability, productivity, and safety while ensuring the facility, utilities, and production equipment are properly maintained and operational. Supervision: Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineers as well as facilities management resources.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity, reduce costs, improve quality, and minimize downtime
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, layouts, and production methods
  • Lead capital equipment projects from concept and justification through installation, commissioning, and production launch
  • Troubleshoot complex equipment and manufacturing problems and develop sustainable corrective actions
  • Support new product introductions, equipment installations, process changes cross functionally
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and cost-reduction initiatives
  • Implement and establish departmental goals, objectives, and procedures while conferring with team members as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with all company and external standards/regulations
  • Establish a PM program, schedules, procedures, documentation, and performance metrics for production equipment and facility systems
  • Monitor equipment reliability, downtime, maintenance costs, and recurring failures
  • Lead preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives to reduce unplanned downtime
  • Coordinate repairs, equipment servicing, inspections, and outside contractors
  • Monitor department budgets and expenditures to meet financial cost targets and objectives
  • Perform basic management duties as required including preparing the site and workforce for audits, monitor resources and shipments
  • Proactively implement and drive site-wide continuous improvement activities
  • Implement and maintain a culture where all employees pursue continuous improvement in all processes
  • Manage facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, building infrastructure, and other critical utilities
  • Maintain compliance with applicable safety, environmental, building, and regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate equipment replacement needs and develop capital expenditure proposals
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, inspections, and facility projects
  • Establish and maintain relationships with contractors, vendors, service providers, and equipment suppliers
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, maintenance, facilities, or in combination
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, machinery, and industrial facility systems
  • Applied knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPS, or other continuous improvement methodologies in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or automated equipment.
  • Experience leading capital equipment and facility improvement projects
  • Demonstrated experience with p-cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong project, time management, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to effectively collaborate with peers and associates
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, equipment documentation, and technical specifications
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industrial Engineering degree
  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Experience with PLCs, automation, robotics, or industrial controls.
  • Experience managing contractors and outside service providers.
