Job summary

Mount Kemble Search Group is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager for an onsite role in Chelmsford, MA. The candidate will lead all production and facility operations within a fast-paced electronics EMS environment, overseeing manufacturing, quality, facilities, and employee development to ensure efficient production of high-quality electronic assemblies and systems.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership in electronics EMS environments.
• Strong knowledge of SMT, PCB/PCBA, CCA assembly, testing, and manufacturing control.
• Experience with Lean and continuous improvement and leading high-mix, low-to-medium volume operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing and facilities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
• Manage production personnel, supervisors, and staff with clear goals and priorities.
• Oversee PCBAs, CCAs, SMT, through-hole, and final assembly operations.
• Drive continuous improvement for throughput, quality, productivity, yield, and cycle time reductions.
• Ensure compliance with customer, industry, quality, OSHA, and environmental requirements.
• Manage production schedules, materials coordination, inventory accuracy, and on-time deliveries.
• Oversee facility maintenance, HVAC, power systems, security, and environmental programs.
• Develop and manage department budgets and capital projects.
• Lead employee development, coaching, and performance management.

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager to lead all production and facility operations within a fast-paced electronics contract manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations, quality, process improvement, facilities management, and employee development while ensuring the efficient production of high-quality electronic assemblies and systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics manufacturing, CCA/PCB assembly, SMT operations, and contract manufacturing, along with demonstrated success leading teams and driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all manufacturing and facility operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved.
• Manage production personnel, supervisors, and support staff while establishing departmental goals and priorities.
• Oversee the manufacturing of electronic products including printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), circuit card assemblies (CCAs), SMT, through-hole, and final assembly operations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, quality, productivity, yield, and cycle-time reductions.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and operational performance.
• Ensure compliance with customer, industry, quality, OSHA, and environmental requirements.
• Manage production schedules, materials coordination, inventory accuracy, and on-time customer deliveries.
• Oversee facility maintenance, HVAC, power systems, security, and environmental programs.
• Develop and manage department budgets and capital equipment projects.
• Lead employee development, coaching, performance management, and workforce planning initiatives.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience within an electronics manufacturing or electronics contract manufacturing (EMS) environment.
• Strong understanding of:
• SMT manufacturing processes
• PCB/PCBA and CCA assembly
• Electronic testing and inspection
• Manufacturing process control
• Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
• Experience managing high-mix, low-to-medium volume manufacturing operations.
• Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and production ramp-up activities.
• Strong leadership, communication, and employee development skills.
• Experience managing budgets, inventory, and operational metrics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within an electronics contract manufacturing (CM/EMS) organization.
• Knowledge of IPC standards and electronics manufacturing best practices.
• Experience with ISO-regulated manufacturing environments.
• Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certifications.
